This adorable, but it is not factually accurate. I've been binge watching a lot of historical clothing videos because I am a nerd.

I have recently learned this little pocket was added to early manufactured pants in the 19th century as a holster for a pocket watch.

As pocket watches gradually became less popular, manufacturers didn't bother changing their jeans/pants patterns, and now it got grandfathered in, but I suppose a picture of a kitten is a worthy use of the pocket because watches help you tell time and it's always kitten time.
