To be fair, his skill level was so far above the others, that none of them were that much of a challenge. Say what you will, but many big name players ( Beckham, Ibrahimovic, Henry, Kaka, Rooney, Bale, Villa, etc.) have spent the twilight of their career in the MLS, and only a few have won the MVP award, and none did it twice, let alone in back-to-back years.

That was a crazy game. I kept thinking if one of the Dutch players takes a run at Messi, the Argentine crowd (who made up 85-90% of the stadium) would make sure that nothing wearing orange left the place alive. Luckily the opposite happened, with Virgil van Dijk actually shielding Messi at one point.

Despite rooting for Argentina, I have to admit that Leandro Paredes kicking the ball into the Dutch bench was pretty dirty.
