    Hi and welcome. It's always nice with new people around :)

    I think you've overlooked a few more weaknesses:

    - Low base strenght (3 on regular units, 4 on elite/characters).

    - Few units can get +1 armoursave.

    - Even if they get +1 armour save very few can also get a ward save.

    - Couple that with low toughenss all around.

    - Fewer attacks (characters) than us.

    Assuming we have an oldblood and they have 3 nobles in the front hitting the OB (who's equiped with armour of Destiny, luckstone, crown of command and a great weapon) they'll get off 9 S6 attacks ON THE CHARGE. Even with ASF they'll "only" do 6,75 hits --> 4,45 wounds --> armour save (4+ now), 1 rerollable (4+) and ward (4+) = 0,55 wounds taken. So between 0-1 wounds, right?.

    Their second rank (I assume silverhelm) will do 3 ASF hits --> 2 hits --> 1 wound --> 0,25 wound or in other words 25% to do another wound.

    Our OB will have 5,8 attacks (PF), 2,9 hits --> 2.43 wounds --> (assuming a +1 armour) 1,6 wounds --> (ward 4+) 0,8 wounds. So not fantastic either, but on the other han they can only have one of these guys. The guy will be equiped with enchanted shield (+2 AS) and talisman of preservation (+4 ward). Another model can havce an armour of destiny (4+ ward) and only 2+ AS.

    They'll be tough to beat, however here's the thing. We didn't eat their face alright, but the OB is still alive(assuming their silly horzies didn't finish him off). Even IF he only have 1 wound left you'll be looking at S3/4 for the rest of the time it take for them to finish him up. Lets just look at that:

    9 WS6/S4 --> 0,17 wounds.
    3 WS4/S3 --> 0,025 wounds.

    Take Loremaster and make sure to get off the healing spell. Make sure to get it off.

    And just to make sure: 3 lord characters (same stats, just better WS) will do 0,82 wounds in the first round of combat.

    Obviously they can always try out a great weapon, but they'll be missing out on the Enchanted shield and only one can have the dragonhelm. I'm not sure what is most common, but I'm not guessing 3 lords in the front + lvl 4 mage. I'm guessing it's mostly nobles ??

    Our model is only 261 pts and have WAY better defense, hits at S7 every time and comes with T5. He might have a lower WS than their lord characters, but that's fair.

    Should it, for whatever reason, still happen that you'll face 3 lords with great weapons they'll do an average of 0,65 wounds pr turn.

    So what am I trying to say here? I'm not saying that the list isn't hard, but I think that what makes power builds frustrating is when you have no answer to it. It feels impossible to do anything about and it easily becomes "OP".

    I'm dealing with my own nightmares so I know how it's like, but just ask him to continue with his silverhelm bus and go at it until you've learned to deal with it.

    His banner doesn't do jacksh1t to your great weapon and Crown of COmmand will make sure that no matter how much you lose with you'll stick around (dat Ld8/9 cold blooded).

    If you can get your OB in contact his bus and have your loremaster slann nearby you can probably also stop him and it has only taken you less than 600pts to do so.

    Also the banner doesn't stop any hexes or augments on you. Pop hand of glory on your OB for that boosted WS against any potential lords or get wyssans off.

    Good luck :)

    To be honest, I prefer to just force-cast Dwellers on him. I prefer Life because of protection from miscasts, and dwellers work wonders against the, mostly, Elves and undead my local group runs with.

    Our HE player HAVE tried to tell us that a save against magic is always allowed with magic resistance, but he got overruled harder than a Scar Veteran with a Great Weapon and Savage Beast of horros can hit you. (Also, that combo is fun as hell, and you should really try it. No one expects to take 4 cannonballs to the face once in melee)

    Well, that silver helm unit isn't that cheap...
    I think the best way to deal with any death-star is one of three ways:
    1. Charge with cowboy, challenge and just sit there for a few rounds, or park him in front of the unit if it's possible to magic/shoot the unit and countercharge with something (cowboy? steg?) in the flank. Most stars is quite squishy in the flank. Few death-star characters can kill of scar-vets or old bloods too easily.

    2. Double flee with skinks or terradons. Quite annoying if your super unit doesn't even get to fight...

    3. Sacrifice cheap units and redirect. 5*70 points give him 350 VP. Just make sure to get more from him :)
