Funny enough, I had just watched the highlight of that contest just before writing my earlier post. For clarification, I do not think that the Olympics are a farce, the only thing I think is a farce are those specific Olympic events where men have been allowed to compete against women. So I think some percentage of the Olympics is a farce, a percentage that is likely very small. It will be interesting to see if this trend escalates or reverses come time for the next Olympics. Theoretically speaking, the worst this movement could do is turn half of the Olympics into a farce (assuming every women's event is infiltrated by males), as men's events are completely immune. There is no way a transman would ever be able to step up and compete against the biological males. That's an even bigger ask than getting the countries themselves to boycott. Athletes have such a short competitive window that by the time real change is enacted, they would likely have had their opportunity pass them by. It's a noble idea and one easily advocated by those sitting on the sidelines (with nothing to lose), but it is a huge sacrifice to ask of those that have dedicated their entire lives to reach the top of their sport. How many will go along with such a plan? You'd need to have a significant proportion of the very best athletes to jump on board for it to have any real impact. You might peel a few athletes away, but someone else will just take their place. If the best high jumper in the world boycotts, it's likely that the second best high jumper will happily swoop in to grab the gold. I've actually had this conversation and came up with the exact opposite solution. Pick one of the very most popular sports (Soccer for instance) and purposefully create a super "women's" team comprised entirely of males identifying as women. And not just scrub males, but the very best you can gather together. Play along with the whole trans ideology and do so as publicly as possible. Next, show absolutely no mercy on the field, with the aim not to just win every match but to do so by 30 or 40 goals. Keep this up for a couple years across all the major tournaments and leagues. The key is to utterly destroy the competition to such a degree that all the normies tuning in will have no choice but to realize that it is unequivocally unfair to pit males against females. When enough outrage has been generated, come clean and expose that the whole thing was a farce to prove a point, thereby demonstrating not only the biological reality but also how flawed the system of "self-identification" is. It is not without collateral damage, but it would make the point, undeniably.
I agree with most of Nightbringer's post about transwomen in women's sports, but I want to keep this thread focused on the CCP. I did see a video clip of a finalists forfeiting a Women's Billiards tournament in the UK when she saw she was playing against a biological male in a wig. She got thunderous applause when she got her second place trophy and the "winner" was booed. I don't care about sports very much. I have a general attitude that professional sports is not about sportsmanship or noble competition or physical fitness but it is about making money. If paying audiences want to see biological males soundly defeat biological women then that is what women's sport's leagues should do in my opinion. If audiences turn away from it, then sport's leagues should not allow biological males compete against women. That was my theory crafting. But there is a problem with my flawless logic. Very few people want to pay money to see female athletes compete. The exception seems to be gymnastics and tennis. The World Tennis Association actually stood up to the CCP and pulled events out of China when it was revealed that a professional tennis player was raped by a high ranking CCP official and than coerced into silence. The World Tennis Association pulled events from China and blasted them on social media while IOC helped sweep it under the rug. Anway, back to the tangent at hand. The WNBA is a subsidiary of the NBA and the WNBA loses money but the NBA keeps it going for the good PR. Most professional sports leagues are similar with the women's league acting as a loss leader for the men's league. Or, women's sports leagues are funded by non-profit organizations. The problem is, non-profit entities and the like are not trying to make money. They are trying to virtue signal. And currently, the wokesters are the loudest virtue signalers.
I believe they would do anything to win medals that they can get away with. I have heard lots and lots of stories about the CCP being very anti-gay and lesbians. I haven't heard or read anything on a stance towards trans people. I imagine they don't mind if other nations do it but they wouldn't tolerate Han Chinese people doing it. I had a trans coworker who was rather chatty. When you factor in the total cost of treatment, you are looking at a quarter million dollars. I imagine that is a major limiting factor to trans people when consider how poor 90% of the population is. And the wealthy elites like having children. You don't see a lot trans people outside the West. The exception seem to be Iran. The government will subsidize gender affirming surgery and hormonal treatment but not for any progressive reason. Iran REALLY hates gays and lesbians and they think changing a gay man into a transwoman "cures" them. That is utterly horrifying. Iran and China are political allies but I don't think it's because they have ideology in common. They just hate the United States and the West.
Are there any reports of them trying to push transwomen into women's events to win medals? Have they advocated for such things in the past?
China has what is known as "The Great Firewall" that the CCP uses to limit what gets in or out of the Chinese Internet but it's not an impermeable barrier. Stuff gets in and out that the CCP doesn't want. I subscribe to four or five Chinawatch sites on Youtube and they mention the CCP oppressing or suppressing gays in various but I have seen nothing on trans issues at all. I looked through Google and the best I could find was laws that the China has on the books. They allow Chinese citizens to change their sex on their government IDs only after they get sex reassignment surgery but they cannot legally change their birth certificate. Some regional governments have their own laws but they are (unsurprisingly) similar to the national government. So someone must have done this or they wouldn't pass laws That's all I could find. I couldn't find numbers or demographic data on which demographics are more or less likely to seek sex assignment surgery. I couldn't find any information on Chinese transpeople being given special treatment good or bad. I know that the CCP really likes to win international sports tournaments but I know much about Chinese sports leagues are like. I don't know what the CCP's policy on biological men in women's sports is. Domestically, basketball is the currently most watched sport by Chinese people and the number of professional and amateur basketball teams in China is increasing fast. And I know the American NBA is bending over backwards to kiss the CCPs boots and they are blacklisting American basketball players that criticize the CCP.
But we do know the USA's (and Canada's) stance on the subject, well, at least the stance of the crazy leftist loons residing in both countries.
Par for the course in the US/Canada, where students have identified as cats in the classroom, with the teacher being forced to play along. I bet that wouldn't fly in China. These kids may pretend to be birds, but the CCP will only allow it to go so far.
Children don't get ANY freedom to be weird. The Chinese school system is harsh. These are young adults in their twenties. Basically after a really grueling school system, young adults get to go into a job market where the youth unemployment is so high, the government can't even lie about it. And the jobs that exist are very underpaid. All while their parents want them to get married yesterday and start working on grand kids. Basically young adults are finding new ways to rebel. Once the government censors figure out how to block this on the Chinese internet, they will move on to something else.
Young adults in their twenties believing themselves to be cats/dogs in the USA is also a thing, so the point is moot. At least the Chinese are only doing it as a form of protest and not actually believing themselves to be birds. When it comes to identifying as things that people are not, the west is (unfortunately) unmatched. Sounds like a tough situation. I'm not well enough versed to make a proper comparative analysis, but things aren't exactly great here at the moment either. That said, I'd wager we're still better off.
There is a Chinese idiom that loosely translates "Your punishment/suffering will last for three generations of you family". There was a video that was of course removed from the Chinese internet pretty quick, but it was preserved on the Western internet. A police officer is forcibly removing a young man out his apartment for not following Covid procedures and the cop uses the "three generation line" and the guy says "I'm the last generation." With the most sophisticated police state on Earth, a popular uprising against the CCP is not possible, so the best thing young people can do is not participate. The birth rate continues to fall as fewer people want to bring a child into their hellish existence.
On the flip side, you had the USA's BLM "summer of love" protests. I don't think that's any better. Fiery but mostly peaceful. For the record, US birthrates are falling too (same with most of the west).
If the US had pulled out, China would have won the Olympic games! Even with the USA's inclusion, they didn't capture the Olympic title until the very last event of the games. The US needed a gold in Women's basketball, which they got, thereby leveling with China on Golds and winning by virtue of having more Silvers. Well done to the US, but it does show that China is a powerhouse on the world stage.
I will concede the point. I won't say I don't about the Olympics, that would be a lie. I don't care very much. So I will focus on things I care about more.
It'd be nice if the Karate Kid can win WITHOUT the opposing team sweeping the leg, metaphorically speaking.
