Hi all! I am wanting to start a hobby blog. 0 clue how regularly I will update this but I want to share some progress with others (besides my one AoS friend IRL) .

My intention is to try and do two things that are kind of strange.

One) Something that is very ingrained in me from my early forum use (in general) I'd like to try and reserve the first 10 posts on this blog to try and help keep myself organized, more easily track my own progress, and to hopefully help others quickly look through my hobby stuff.
So please wait to post encouragement until all the post have been reserved (hopefully I'm not spamming too much or get flagged as a bot)

Two) I am flexible with counts as models, I have multiple 3D printers, and I am semi skilled with the manipulation and creation of 3D models. So I will be posting and sharing hobby progress which will include model and unit counts as choices, that others might be able to use.

So let's get started!

Reserved for Terrain

(Probably my favorite aspect of the hobby so I hope this will be a good one!)

A friend and I are into WarCry a lot. The GW official terrain boxes aren't a terrible deal but still are around 80 USD. No thanks. Made this Azyrite temple board, but Seraphon Temple themed!

Realmshaper Engine

So despite the controversy with the rules regarding this thing I was still eager to get one. Specifically for less then 60USD...

Here are several WIP shots.
(Link to post when I figure out how to)

As it currently stands it's unapinted... Painting is always the biggest hurdle for me partly because I don't have a dedicated comfortable spot to paint.

Reserved for Army list!

(plan on including photoshoots with each army list I think this will be fun!)

Reserved for Battle Reports.

Interested in practicing doing some write-ups. Curious as to what you all think is a good template or example of a written battle report.

Reserved for other Army musings.

This will include some other AoS lists and 40k Tyranids as I like all things Dinosaur...

Reserved for Other Hobby musings.

Think DIY foam inserts or other carrying cases, maybe 3D organizers/model holders.

This is the 10th Post! Woo made it. Again sorry if this got annoying but with this hopefully all-encompassing thread of my things I can stay motivated and organized.

Officially you may now post. Thanks!

Reserved because the thought of 9 slots reserved did bad things to my psyche.

Welcome :) Excited to see your blog grow! I'm especially interested in the terrain as I am trying to grow my own skill in that area this coming year. Nice Organization!

Updated with some WIP pics and links for Dread Saurian, Slann, and Razordon. Not to mention sharing a warcry mat!
I was looking at getting that Dread Saurian printed myself, I was unsure of the quality but it looks nice! Looks to be resin printed? Did you print it yourself? Have a color scheme idea yet?

What are its dimensions? Same size as the FW one?

Just measured mine.
It's 14inches from his head to the furthest part of his tail. Bear in mind it bends round so straightened out would be longer.
His tallest spike is 7 inches from the ground.
His body is about 3 inches thick at it's thickest.
Back leg is 4 inches tall, front is 3inches.
Head is 3 inches long and 1.5 inches wide.

The Measurements for the 3D printed one are:
16in from head to tail
6.5 for the tallest part. In this case its the neck/headpiece.
4.5in thickest. (front legs/shoulders)
4in tall back legs, 3.5in front legs.
3.5in long, 2.25in wide for the head.

A fair bit off. But the model is meant to replicate the Dread Saurian from the TWWH2 game, and not be a proxy for the Forge World Model.

As far as how it was printed, it was all on an FDM printer, with PLA.. I went mostly overboard and used .1mm layer height. Took over a week of straight printing to get all the pieces done. and approximately 500gs of plastic (~10 USD worth of material).

Nice! Size wise it seems to compete with my Thunderlizard in terms of Length, it's actually longer! Wonder if I could get it scaled down a bit, regardless, looks awesome. Excited to see what you do with it

Small terrain update! Realmshaper Engine DIY style. Because 60 USD for it is a lot regardless of if the rules for it are good.

(Note: I tried to add all these pictures to my reserved post but you can only have 10 images per post! Who knew. At least with built in photo upload)

First step: Question your decision to buy 1.5" foam instead of the much more versatile 1" foam. Cut 1" strips of your 1.5" foam, arrange them in the appropriately sized squares (Base 1=6",Base 2=5",Base 3=4",Base 4=3") trace out a 1/4" perimeter on theses bases so you can get the bevel/slant correct when you cut. If your being silly like me use tooth picks to help secure the blocks while glueing.
IMG_20200322_133718.jpg

Glue them centered, after cutting the slants. This time regardless of if your silly you should use toothpicks and glue to make the connections nice and strong. Note I would also score the bottoms and tops of the platform with knife before glueing and toothpicking. It'll make a better surface for regular PVA glue (not normally good for glueing foam).
IMG_20200322_134616.jpg

Pain stakingly carve bricks with a pen, I tried to match the stone look in general proportions only. After a light scoring come back over you lines with a knife, be careful not to cut off the corners!
IMG_20200323_153613.jpg

Also do some cool detail on the top. Because of my 1.5" foam issue I had some pretty ugly seems. And sense it is supposed to be garrisoned I cut channels on these seems for doors! (2 channels on opposite sides)
IMG_20200325_105110.jpg

I used some 3D printed rules from Ge32 (I'll double check your name to update it when I'm not on my phone). I really enjoy the comment signage. Easily replicated with a compass and a pen if you don't have a 3D printer. (I was just tired of carving foam tbh)
IMG_20200325_160037.jpg

The doors looked a little lack luster, and I had some convieant rectangles from printing some other components for this build so I used them.
IMG_20200326_172523.jpg

IMG_20200326_172516.jpg

I had modeled a serpant staff for a DIY starpriest awhile ago, I cut off the Spike and enlarged it to make the statue snake heads. Also altered up (name)'s bastilidon ring to use as the gate on the top. Here's a dry run off the engine (balancing was really hard for this picture). Note I still had rectangles left over so I used one to add some depth for the portal connection later.
IMG_20200326_170912.jpg

Cut channels into the top so the 3D printed decorations fit snug and hold glue.
IMG_20200326_173717.jpg

Taa da! Another view of it in its current state is in the first page. Oh almost forgot glue this sucker to some card stock, I used cereal box. This will help protect the bottom of it, and fill the gap I had made due to my foam situation.
IMG_20200326_174358.jpg

Fun fact. I found that I had all the 1" foam I would have needed for this project after glueing the top bits on....

Those top bits are looking good!! Can’t wait to see it painted!!

I made a little progress over the weekend. Added some texture and filled gaps at the same time! PVA and sand, what a wonderful combination.
IMG_20200419_105937.jpg
I also wanted to share my custom 3D modeled balewind Vortex!
IMG_20200414_214828.jpg

And while not a perfect job, I'm really proud of this modular Slann/Kroak I made. I don't really like the signpost being used for just the regular Slann so this little bit really helps separate my Slann from my kroak in addition to the mask.

Magnets, how do those work am I right? Magnet is on sign thing, used some heated up and shaped pieces of 3D filament as vines to hold the mask in the correct place. I added a couple more times because I thought just one on each side was weird.

Planning on getting some painting actually done when I can batch paint a couple of 1k lists.
