Thanks for your input. Yah 6 chameleon skinks was all I could afford points wise. The terradons are just used to war machine hunt in case the chameleon skinks dont end up doing their job. I find with skilled opponents, they dont leave much space for you to scout close enough to their warmachines and so I was thinking of taking them out completely and having two units of 3 terradons. I was thinkinkg about rippers as well in an all comers list but their Initiative is low so against any elf or chaos army, id basically die before I could strike back. I forgot to note that the stegadon had the sharpened horns upgrade but ive only been able to charge an enemy monster once with it. It did amazing so I think id kep it JUST to be safe. Flaming banner is for those damn Hell Pits or units of 9 trolls that I see plenty of at the local store. I know we have the beam to get rid of opponents regen but just to have something that cant be dispelled that I know can negate regen gives me peace of mind. I think I'll take your advice on taking the lvl 1 for the lore of beast to save me 35pts. I guess its not really worth the points for that extra +1 to cast... and i dont think ive ever had enough dice to use the skinks 2nd spell. Rarely do i get amber spear =(
Terradons aren't supposed to go into combat. They are flying Fast Cavalry, and should be used as such.
I want my fast cav for less than 105 points. I want better than Ld5 on my fast cav. If you have the hero points, go with chief on terradon/ripper, it works the same for less points. -Matt
Then play Elves, Empire, Orcs and Goblins, or any number of armies that have cheap, and flightless, Fast Cavalry. Lizardmen Fast Cavalry are a little bit more pricey, but they can Fly and have a decent special rule. On the other hand, there are cheap Skirmishers in core which, whilst not Fast Cavalry, are still pretty mobile. You might not like them, but Terradons are still Fast Cavalry and you shouldn't be under any assumption otherwise. They are certainly not a combat unit.
Hah - I watched a game the other week where my friend's Daemon Prince failed three (count 'em, three) 16-19" charges one after the other. On the other hand, he survived three direct hits from a cannon ball to the face, so its swings and roundabouts.
Lizardmen do get cheap fast cav. It's in the hero section. 89 points gives you a fast cav model with a 2+ armor save; who just happens to be character. He does all the same redirecting a unit could do, but he's got better leadership and can join other units to avoid getting picked off by normal shooting. I use quite a bit of fast cav with my lizards; but most/all of it is characters.
wait what. how big is the phoenix model? or can the krox get full attacks form the second attack? i thought second rank fellows only get one supporting attack? that would equal 13 attacks+predatory fighter attacks.
