Hey guys I have dabbled a little bit with this before but want to get more into it. I've done small bases before and they turned out ok, but haven't really done any deep water.

Have any of you guys done this? Which company do you like?

I watched a few youtube vids and a lot of people go with Woodland Scenery for like streams and such, anyone have a different favorite?

Also for deep water do you guys have any tricks for keeping the water from going all over? As in masking tape, some kind of plastic.

Some people also have trouble with water fogging up... I heard you may have to wet sand the thin top layer, is this true?

Last question, what do you use to tint the water. does GW glaze or their old Ink's work?
 
I've not done much but I use Woodland Scenery and it seems good, to stop it spilling I try to make the base cup shaped and fill it, fogging up is usually when it has not completely dried out.

Tinting I just paint the base dark blue/green and it tints that way.
 
You can add ink to most of them, keep in mind though a little goes a looong way.
Haven't heard of anyone having to wet sand theirs... just make sure you keep it away from a lot of dust.
Really make sure your surface is water tight though.

what do you have in mind for deep water projects ?
 
What I do for deep waters is simply pour more than one layer. I don´t use woodland scenics realistic water so I can´t talk about the tinting of it. I hear the fogging only occurs on the resin touching the tape that hold it in place, but for fixing it people say to use some very fine sanders and then add some stuff for clearing glass when it is polished. I don´t know anything else, sorry :(

No ideas just yet, just want to see how its done. I need to prepare for Crystal Brush next year as I finally want to enter it. One thing that stands out is everyones base work.

Yes I heard the same with the fogging. Which resin do you use?
 
Oh well yea it's might be a bit rough if one side is only contained by a bit of tape..
 
Ya i see alot of people using plastic to keep it contained. Like a solo cup or something similar.
