I think its called lichen out here and its good as bushes by it self but it is even better as the filler for a bush you just use the brown or yellow variety and using white glue you can flock it with scatter for leaves or even use colored scatter for flowers or berries. The result is very passable and best of all its cheap I have even seen a guy use it as the backgroung noise for his jungle interspersed with aquarium plants for quite a good effect. Good on your Mum for keeping and eye out for you next you may get her painting.
