Blog Return of the Ancient Painter: Troggoths added

Ok new format I'm going to list which paints I use for some parts of a model that way you can see how I achieve certain looks and hopefully transfer the ideas into your own painting, if it helps one guy I'm happy, I use Citadel paints.

Note: these two steps can be left out but your model will look great if you do them.
Spot highlight is applied to the very edge of certain parts, knuckles, ear tops, toes etc
Glaze used if the model looks chalky or lacking depth of colour

So first up Savage Ork Boss

Skin
Base - Waagh Flesh Wash - Biel tan green Layer1 - Waagh flesh Layer2 - Warboss green
Highlight - Skarsnik green Spot highlight- Kreig Khaki Glaze - Waywatcher green

As always comment away.

Next up will be a unit of Black orks in rusty armour.

great looking model!
And those paint list will really help me compose color sets for my own to use! As I really tend to need those (not very experimental myself)

Great I'm happy already ;)

I always paint with a book or white dwarf for reference find it really helps get the mind focused on colour combos.

I really like that savage boss, with the converting I have been doing with my Primal temple guard I grew a fondness for the savage orcs and plan to make a save orc war ban with all the trimmings ;)

My son got a box but he made me paint the boss not that I needed much pushing, I missed painting Orcs and Gobbos :)

I did do the freehand on the balloon but that was years ago.
This reminds me of a story I was told by an old sailor...
He watched a show in Hamburg before he left for south America to work there. The show was called "Hans Dampf crushes 10 walnuts with his didelidong*!" (don't know why he decided to watch this particular show... Must be a sailor thing...) So when he returned after 17years of working in South America he saw the show was still running. It was called "Hans Dampf crushes 10 coconuts with his didelidong!*" he decided to check that out, and watched the show again. And really it was the same guy doing the same he did 17 years ago but with coconuts instead of walnuts. After the show the sailor went to the artist (?!) who seemed to be about sixty or sixty-five and aske him " How can it be, that you are crushing coconuts with your didelidong* while some 17 years ago you did the same with walnuts?!" And the artist answered "Well, what can you do? At my age the eyes are not as good as they once were."

* changed due to family friendliness and maybe more fun while reading.

The furry gobbos riding the squigs look amazing! They're hilarious! I like that ork! Great paint detail! Really brings the model to life showing off his muscles and teeth!

These guys look great! Quite fearsome! I do enjoy the target on the drum skin! Like taunting the enemy with that alone. Bet you can't hit this!
