Blog Return of the Ancient Painter: Troggoths added

Great work, your Troglodon is awesome!

How did you do the green scales?

Base Waaargh Flesh
Wash Athonian camoshade, reapply waaargh but only lightly.
Layer1 Paint the scales on the outer edge with warboss green.
Layer2 Paint skarsnik green on the outer edge leaving a bit of warboss green visable.
Glaze twice with waywatcher green
Spot highlight the centre of the scales and upper edge with gauss blaster green.

I have to say, @Crowsfoot , you are incredibly, incredibly talented, and the amount of time, effort, blood, sweat and tears you must have invested to get as good as you are has definitely paid of. If I could affort the train ticket up to Lancashire I'd offer to trade some painting lessons for a few games!

You can have lessons when ever you want.

I painted when I was a teenager for about 8 yrs then had a 20 yr break, I do love it but I equally enjoy gaming.

If I make it down to the Mantic weekend I can give you some pointers np ;)

Oh and thanks for the nice words.

Wow what an impressive painting blog you have here! You are very talented :) Your Troglodon is one of the coolest I've seen. Such vibrant colors! Great job all around :)

I think mine was painted before @Fiona but I was surprised to see we had used almost the same colour scheme.
I only painted mine in jan this year. I remember the painful paint cramming sessions to get it ready for a paint comp here in australia :( worst month of painting ever. Hated doing the scales!!! pure hate....haha

You painted it way before me then, I got like that when I painted my first steggy it took me months to finish it.

I'm genuinely terrified about doing my steggy, haha. i think his my favourite model so i want to make him spectacular. I just wish my brain could get into a speed painting rhythm for the rest of my units, i really envy those who can paint up stuff quick, even if its tabletop quality :(

You have to go against what you feel when I painted my warriors I didn't do details like bracelets, I just based, washed, drybrushed but added a white under belly then glazed batches of 5 in different colours to give them a bit of sparkle.

Right Comp entry done just got to photo and submit.

Sooooo I'm working on The Silver Tower mini's and I will be following some of these tutorials not that I can't paint them more of a lesson to see if mine turn out like his, first up will be the Tzaangors.

Ok guys long time since I posted anything on here so a quick update,

Silver tower and a load of other stuff has been sold to fund my airbrush and 40k.

I have finished most of the multi bases for my KOW Salamanders and I am 99% done on 2 Grey knight squads.

Pics by the end of the week :)

So I have a Grey Knight teaser for you, I have more pics to do but here is a taster, I'm not 100% happy with these the power weapons could be crisper but heyho live and learn.
