Hey all! Greetings from blazing hot southern California- almost as hot as the jungles of Lustria!

I played WHFB for years with a mighty Empire force, but was always intrigued by the incredible Lizardmen models- plus, dinosaurs! I got out of the game and switched to 40K when AoS dropped, but I continue to hear great things about how AoS has improved since the initial launch- and this seems like a great time to jump back in.

I purchased a Start Collecting box and am still considering colors and themes. I have always thought a desert theme would look great, but haven't locked into a final plan yet. I enjoy painting and modeling, so I will be creating an army thread here once I get started. I have recently begun using an airbrush in my painting, which I think will really help bring my forces to life.

I have had enough of horde armies, and want to focus my Seraphon on more specialized, big models.

Any players in So CA willing to meet up and help me learn the ropes?

I don't have any lizards painted yet, but here is a recent model I did for a friend.

Welcome to the forums!

Lovely model.

Let us know if you have any questions about gameplay, painting, fluff, or anything else.

Thanks! There seems to be so much AoS material out there now (wasn’t it supposed to be the “simpler game”) that I am a little confused as to what I need to get started. Is the current Seraphon book still valid?

Is the current Seraphon book still valid?

Yes, but here's the rub. The army rules are set in stone and do not change. The General's Compendium gets periodically updated. When this happens the points values of various units are updated slightly.

It's mostly fluff, the only thing you can get in the Seraphon book that's not in the generic Order book is the very host rules but I like having a Seraphon only book. For all their flaws, I'm okay giving GW some of my money.

Welcome aboard,

If you need any help with painting etc we will try our best.

Why not start a blog so you can post pics of your models and we can comment on your work.

That is my plan, thank you! There is a lot here to be inspired by.

Hello and welcome, nice start - hope to see lots more pics like the one above :)

Glorious, well painted!

Hi folks- thanks again for the warm welcome!

So, I picked up the Seraphon Battle Tome, and now I am question the theme I was considering (desert).

If the Seraphon are essentially all summoned, then they don’t really “live” anywhere- so it doesn’t really make sense that they would have different coloration or adaptations to different climes, right?

I mean, my bases could reflect the desert, because they could potentially be summoned to a battle anywhere, right? But what is a good reason for Seraphon that are colored differently if they are all being “remembered”?

Or am I just way overthinking this?

Hello and welcome! I believe I wrote it on the Facebook group too, but you do what you want! :)

You can write a history that fits your army. Your army could've been stranded in the desert during a war, and having had to adapt to their surroundings. And that is how your Slaan remembers them!
