Blog Ritual's Army - Lizard on Lizard Action (For the Waaaaagh!)

The Primaris I painted is front and center in the local GWs window now, so that's something!

Fabius didn't do anything for the last painting competition, I think my style and model choice just isn't going to win anything voted in like that. Roboute won as he was the biggest thing in the cabinet, same as lord of change last time. His paint job wasn't even that good! Ah well.

Looks like incoming Deathwatch? Possibly from the Silver Skulls and Mentors Chapters? (not sure if the second one is the Mentors though, the maybe the White/Black Consuls?).

I really like how you have painted that shield. It really looks perfect, both the tiny little letters and the amazing colors of the gold on that skull.

It's from the objective marker set that came out with new 40k, some good stuff in that little set!

I saw this on your Instagram, could you do a step by step for me?
It was a bit of messing about, but it was approximately this...

  • Base coated it all red
  • All over wash of agrax earthshade, reasonably light, heavy in the joints
  • Edge highlight of orange, got bored of that and decided to make it "weathered"
  • Stippled on some typhus corrosion - very very light, that stuff is thick and dirty
  • Stippled on some kind of mid grey colour
  • Stippled on some nurlge rot? light green dry paint
  • Stippled on some ryza rust
  • Used some acrylic matte medium to create a "base" to drag colour through for the streaks
  • Used a bit of typhus corrosion again and dragged it upwards towards the thing I wanted to be streaky (large hole, rivets)
That was about it so far. The medium is important for the streaks as it allows you to correct and make it look natural without it drying on the base colour.

Excellent this is the type of thing I want to try on the DG set
