Blog Ritual's Army - Lizard on Lizard Action (For the Waaaaagh!)

You have done a great job so far some great looking models but the best bit is you have actually done the bases, so many people neglect this part and it adds so much to a model.

Whenever I pick up a model I always try and work out how I can make the base look rad before I think about anything else... It gives me excuses to buy all the basing materials I see... I have a problem.

We all have a problem, I converted over my garage into a painting loft it is full of stuff and I'm not talking bits, I have around 100 terrain pieces that have never seen outside of a cardboard box!

Basing is so important and I'm really glad you feel the same.

I just took delivery of my other SC box and Bastiladon, glad to see that the scales are completely separate from the body - it's going to make my idea for painting the scales a bit easier. I am thinking of doing a bigger, more details, space scene on the back of the Bastiladon - like the Warrior shields but larger.

Basing with black and then doing highlights, and then doing the airbrushing should make it an easy enough process. Not letting myself start that until I have done all of the Warriors though....

Going to build the Warriors and Knights from the SC box and add them to the build line though, no point doing 29 warriors and having another 10 to do from the start.

Ohh you are getting into it now, get an airbrush if you have not got one and then try this, I'm doing a couple of my bases like this.

Yah, got an airbrush and did a few experiments for the shields. Been checking out NASA photos for inspiration so should be fun when I get there :)

After I watched those 2 videos I thought wow so easy but I bet it's harder than it looks!

I know I said I was going to work on the warriors but...

I'll get back to the Warriors tonight... I must or I'll keep putting it off and putting it off....

Was difficult to resist putting together the second Carno I must admit, though may do it so I can paint them at the same time.

Haha! welcome to my world, I have models all over the place 1/2 finished

I am pondering what colour to do the scales on the Carno, kind of want to do them black to tie in with the rest of the army.

Yeah, I think what I will do is paint them black and highlight with an undead-green I have kicking about - then potentially see about glazing them with green to give them a tint.

I glazed the dagger for my Star Priest using blue and I think it came out amazingly, so could work out.

Built the other 10 warriors tonight and sealed bases on the other knights.

Only thing I've got left to build now is the knight riders, other carno and the Bastiladon!

Then all the conversions can happen.

Got up early and based the Warriors and started painting the back scales on the Carno... It's coming along.

I also ordered some fur cloaks for a couple of my conversions, I don't know what they'll be like so we'll see!

Painted the scales black last night, added a little bit to the base. Sealed in the bases of the Warriors and they're dry - so can actually paint them tonight!

My aim for the weekend is going to be getting the 700 point list I made ready which will involve:

- Prime and base layer to 7 knights + scar vet on cold one
- Build bodies for 15 knights + scar vet on cold one (conversion - really hope my fur cloak arrives in time)
- Prime all 16 bodies
- Paint 15 knights + scar vet

Skinks and Starpriest are good to go for that list though, so it's not soooo bad. Warriors might be on hold for the weekend while I power on with the Knights!

nice work I like how your giving your self a set time table..i could not stick to mine on day 2 lol
