8th Ed. Rules in magic section vs. casting restriction summary

Is it just me or is the table at the back of the book severely wrong? It totally conflicts with the restrictions in the magic section of the book. It says augments and hexes need line of sight.. and yet they need not lie in the caster's forward arc. How is that possible? I hope this doesn't confuse people.

Or treat it like 40k with 360 degree view but only for those spells.
