Cool, what about the actual base? Is that a standard base or some kind of plasticard?
Ah, I see what you mean now. I had an extra bit of GW's sizable movement trays and just cut a 2x3 section out.

My stegadon's coming along well, but I've hit a snag. It's cold and humid. Can't use my finish spray on my stegadon, and I can't use my primer spray on the howdah and skink crew. Darn you, weather!

Hey man, nice work - just seeing this now for the first time. Keep us posted as things progress :)

Well, it's gonna be too cold and humid to for the week to continue, but I decided to take some WIP pics. Normally, I don't like showing my models until they're completed and looking their best, but since I can't paint, I'm suffering withdrawals. Need to get my fix somehow, thus, WIP pics.

Ignore the fat, shaved head and lack of photo quality. The camera's out of town with the wife, so I'm using my laptop camera. Also, once I spray the top, I'll be able to safely flip him over and quick finish his belly, which is currently in sticky-tac.

Steg. body, WIP:

As you can see, with all warbeasts, they're marked with purple handprints from the skinks. Unfortunately, the tiny amount of purple doesn't show up well on the red...

I thought you had stopped painting there for a bit. That model is great. I love the added bonus of the skink just in the precarious position. Really cool, I look forward to seeing it done.

Looking really good, i like your Slann, that is a nice paint job.
:beaver:

Now that the Character Challenge seems to have wrapped up, I can stick this little guy up. He's my skink priest Huinichuq (which means small-magic). He normally rides an Engine of the Gods (which I'm still painting up), but when his stegadon dies, he goes on foot.

Here's the unpainted base. I stuck a magnet in there so I could pop Huini off the steg and plop him onto it.

That same base, all painted up.

Due to work my painting is now slowed way down, but I'm steadily working away at this guy's mount. I've got the steg and half the howdah done. Just gotta finish the howdah, crew, and base, and then I'll stick that up.

I'm surprised at how easy it looks using rare earth magnets. The model looks great and the base truly adds so much more. Thanks for posting the pictures. By the way, where did you buy the magnets?

A hobby store in town that deals with things like trains and models and things like that. I put a magnet in the base and on the howdah and a paperclip in his foot.

I gotta say, that may be the best looking skink priest I have seen, period. I love how the blues and purples go together.
Really, really like that blue.

Everything looks great so far. Really like the skink priest with the fallen Steg. Awesome job!

Alright, it's been a big gap between posts, as I took a break from painting, but I started up again and thought I'd post my progress on my Steggy. I've finished the Howdah (and I already had the priest done from the mini competition way back when). All I have left is the rest of the skink crew and the base. Also, sorry about the lack of quality, don't have a digital camera that works anymore, so I'm making due with my smartphone.

Also, I wanted something cooler for the base, so I added a stick and some cork board to look like a fallen log and some rocks. Nothing fancy, but it should look good when I paint it up.

Steg is looking pretty good, like the custom base too. :)

Love it. I just got into buying and painting after years of being a Lizardmen fan. I have been doing something similar with Tepok blessing.

Love your stuff.

Very nice painting!! I like it!

Can you make a overview of the painted models? I want to know how it looks!

Very nice work on the stegadon and howdah. I especially like your work on the horns. How the heck do you achieve that look? Oh and I like the base too.

Bleached bone for the whole thing, then slap a layer of Devlan Mud on. Then reapply bleached bone over 2/3 of the horn, feathering the bit close to the base of the horn (I think feathering's the right term, the little 'pointy bits'), then use skull white for the last third. Bam!

Sorry for the wait, school was crazy. Just got out, so I should be painting more...

Alright, mostly finished with the steg. The only thing I have left to do is the skink crew, but I have a D&D mini I gotta get finished before I get to them.

Also, if quality isn't the greatest, that's because it was shot on my smart-phone.

Here's the base all finished up. I'm really proud of how it turned out.

Really like how they look when together.

Another angle.

Close up on the side so you can really make out the base.

Nice work on the base, especially the log moss. The hand-prints on the steg are a great touch!
