so I found this thing at an art supplies shop and initially planning to make it a cold one failed as I found it was out of scale, so I'm thinking maybe a Salamander, what size base do I want though? also planning to add my spare Troglodon Spine to it, should I fill the gap with green stuff or try to soften and bend the spine?

60 by 35 mm oval for AOS. Unless it is still too big.
I would attempt to fill the gaps for the sail with greenstuff, I am not certain about reshaping it and keeping it reshaped.

thanks man, the only other question left is, should I strip this thing to repaint? just prime over it? or try to work with the existing paint scheme

Just prime over it, usually toy figures have the colour with the plastic, not in the plastic. I also recommend you pin the sail to the back so it doesn´t move around when you greenstuff it.

And post pictures!!

will do, this may take time between progress, I'd rather delay and take forever then rush it and have a terrible finished product
