in the case of having 2 sallies, each with 4 handlers. You lose a sallie, do you then remove the 4 handlers or can they stay with the other sallie?
Stonecutter said:When the FAQ came out, the only change was to add Monster & Handlers to the Sallie rules and a slight change to the wording in the first para of hunting pack. Oddly, the part about randomizing shooting was left in even though this contradicts the M&H rules about resolving hits against the monster and then randomizing unsaved wounds. Disregarding this contradiction, the description of when the monster reaction test is taken provides some guidance IMHO with regard to the issue of how to handle the handlersThe rules state that when all the handlers are slain then the remaining salamanders (the important part is this is in the plural), take the monster reaction test. Based on this, 1 handler can manage up to 3 sallies and thus is not allocated to a specific sallie. Accordingly, by this interpretation, one could theoretically end up with 12 handlers and a single sallie in the unit that would get 12 x handler attacks + 2 sallie attacks in close combat. This approach also seems more fair when using lore of life to recover wounds in the unit (the BRB FAQ changed the wording from "models slain" to "wounds lost" for the regrowth spell) as taking the handlers come back with a sallie approach could result in a single regrowth wound actually recovering 4-5 "wounds" (sallie with 1 wound and 3-4 handlers they originally deployed with). Like many areas of the rules, this is rather muddled so I think Arli's approach of discussing it beforehand with your opponent is best regardless of one's opinion.
