I think point cost shouldn't matter too much if they got advance and charge added to em that way they can justify the cost eh?
Totally, but gw usually doesn't adjust rules after a book comes out unless its something super messed up. So realistically theyd get a points dip, if anything.
5 and 10 man movement trays same as when i used skinks but now only 90 models instead of 200+. trays are removed when charging or dealing with tight terrain.
makes sense. Yeah, when playing saurus warriors a single horde is not enough, as it can be easily contained, but with 2 of them…
Cant you just measure the front and push the remaining up behind them? Never had an issue with not measuring distance on every single model
you can push them up, but lack of caution means they could be damaged (the models). Personally i would move a few as lynchpins and move everyone else up to them
When i was playing my old Fangs of Sotek list from the first book it's just a lot of practice. I knew what i wanted to do and was used to moving that many models. The only time i had problems is when my whole army would get stuck in with another army with a ton of models (like DoK) from an early turn. The combat rounds just take so long lol. also, 40k may have helped me. Age of Sigmar takes less time than 40k in my experience and I was used to cramming 40k games into 2 and a half hours.
I always seal my models once they are painted (painting is easily the least enjoyable aspect of the game for me, so there is no risk of wanting to re-paint something ever) but I was thinking of gently pushing models forward. You could also grab a couple at a time quickly and move them up behind the others once the front line is measured correctly. I actually dont really like movement trays and feel they make things too awkward. The only time I ever use a movement tray is those skirmish ones for Skinks where there is exactly 1" between each Skink so they string out and screen as effective as possible. I dont want to sit and measure 1" between each Skink after each movement.
I think not changing their wardrum ability would have been enough to make them better, run and charge would seem a little too strong IMO, as most things with that ability on their warscroll are very specialized for it, and others that grant it either take up a CP or a spell cast.
Ehhhhh, I think i might prefer reroll charges over an automatic 5'' run. I think they should have gotten run and charge with a prayer, cp, or spell cast like you said. The old blood on foot should have done it, or the skink priest prayer should work on saurus, or it should be part of the slann lore with its 2 good spells. Any of those options would instantly make saurus viable and not be overpowered.
So now that every model is finally assembled, next weekend I’m going to run the saurus battalions against my girlfriends bonereapers and then her lumineth. I only have one salamander so It’s gonna be a battle of infantry with bonereapers. I believe fighting both those armies every week will surely be a good way to get great with them. I will for sure keep y’all posted on the games and can demo any list ideas or things you’d like for me to try against them.
Alas it’s what she’s got lol. She has the models for any battalion of reapers so it’s either gonna be mortek and catapults or cavalry doom lol.
