Finding himself at a loose end Sir Zantos thought it best to help out with the preperations. Rolling up sleeves he decided to help expand upon the baricade to make it safe for the night. After an hour of moving furniture Sir Zantos stopped and noticed something odd hanging off part of the original barricade. "Hey, does anyone know if there's a dog a round here, because i've just found a big ol bit of grey fur in Yzan's barricade. Where did we get this wood from?" Making a quick prayer to the Lady, Sir Zantos's hand made its way to a small rabbits foot on a chain round his neck as he realised danger may be closer at hand than he had thought.
Larinus was brewing over his pint of ale, when he heard a new set of voices just outside the tavern. He went out to investigate and saw that a couple of the men were discussing a new finding - that of a large, wet pawprint. After mulling over it for a few seconds, he decided that it couldn't be anything other than a large wolf, probably that of which belongs to whatever killed the people in the square.
Upon his inspection of this newfound pawprint, Eternity Warden says: "Yep, definitely a werewolf print, you can tell it's not a simple wolf by the fact that the only other prints in the area are human footprints... the lycanthrope must have only mutated for a few seconds in order to leave this."
"Well, the barricades 're built and the shot made, not much to do now but retire and wait, good luck to you all, and may we all awake in the morn to a bright day an' no more death, though methinks things are like to get worse 'afore they get better..."
"Sometimes i have to ask myself, how i get in these situations where sleeping isn't as safe as it should be" "Well, i will say good night to you all, i hope i am alive in the morning for breakfast, and have not become someone elses breakfast"
"I have figured it all out!" he shouted, standing in the centre of town. "It was werewolves!" An eerie silence filled the air, and he walked off surprised at how it was now darkening and everyone was gone. He sighed and made a mental note to not drown in his own thoughts again.
Thanks for your patience all, here it comes! Everyone slowly leaves the town square as night falls and retreat to their respective night haunts. It is now more than clear that there is suspicious behaviour in town, and people could die. The suggestion of werewolves from hellbreaker is a chilling thought for all, as it could mean some from the town are the killers. As sun rises on Day 3 and people rise from restless nights full of bloodcurdling howling and the odd scream, the first mutilated corpse is discovered still in the town square. The creatures are moving through the town without fear! The body is hesitantly approached, and identified as Yzan. Much discussion and shouting breaks out among all the villagers around the scene. Also found near the body is the sherrif's badge, covered in blood. (this was the equivelant of the knight marshall for this game) It is mid morning before a second body is discovered. Two pairs of footprints lead away from the townsquare; one small and one large. It is not until the trail has been followed for a while that one of the trackers recalls from yesterday that salkuhn (lordofwar) had spotted a print, and convinced someone to follow it with him. His was indeed the body found at the outskirts of the town, just past the ineffective barricades. In more troubling news, supplies appear to have been stolen from the stores, along with several horses from the stables. Xlontiqu is also missing, presumably trying to make a run for it from the town. Nobody knows whether he is still alive or not, and nobody dares venture past the outskirts of town to try to find out. (OOC: He was not killed, he asked to leave the game due to lack of time) Day 3 Begins SaurusWarrior The Hunted Larinus Xlontiqu - Left Day 2 novatomato Yzan - Killed day 2 Eternity_Warden Sir Zantos Dreadgrass hellbreaker lordofwar - Killed day 2 conwar I shall attempt to make this day a bit shorter than the last to speed things up, wednesday next week (just under 6 days from this post) I will finish it if everyone has voted and such. You can abstain from voting early on, but everyone should at least make one post.
By the gods! This is much more serious danger than I had supposed! Two dead immediately, and one of them our sheriff! Although that gives me an idea... the sheriff's badge is made of silver, right? Let us forge it into bullets with which to avenge Yzan! As for any initial accusations, I haven't noticed any obvious hostility, but this comment just makes me feel a bit suspicious... Any thoughts?
The joyous feeling of still having his limbs attached to his body when he awoke was quickly stifiled when he saw the devestration that had been wrought during the night. "This is indeed a tragic day, these menaces of fur, teeth and claws are far more couragous than i had asuumed Enternity Warden, we need to act quickly and decisivley, maybe a silver test for us all?" "Darian knows many tales, he may know of ways with which to discover the identiy of these furry beasties"
"HUM, well now we now that the thing is inside the village there is little need for baricades, as all that does now is stop our own escape. I should like to catch one of these werewolves and examine them, or a corpse would do. It would be fascinating to see the differences in the physiology of humans and these human like creatures." Mumbling to himself the eccentric engineer pulls out another parchment and begins sketching the deceased in detail, "It is merely an activity to stimulate the brain you know." he says to anyone willing to listen.
He muttered as sunshine hit his eyes, and rolled over. But that didn't help forgetting yesterday's event. So he forced himself to wake up, walking towards a window. A beautiful day, isn't it? He dressed up and skipped getting something to eat, just to hear if anyone got killed. Hopefully he hadn't been killed himself, you never know after all. Judging by the noise, someone had been killed. Someone that wasn't him. So he approached the location of the noise. "What a good way to spoil a nice day, eh? Who am I to grief?" he said as he got close enough to see the corpse. He couldn't tell who it was though. He saw someone hold something resembling a sheriff's badge, and without hesitating snatched it. Yzan it said. "So the stranger got himself in deep? Why that's a real pity. Any ideas on who, or what, is responsible?" he said and then thought for a moment. "If anything, I still think it's werewolves. And I don't know about you, but didn't that knight, Sir Zantos I think, find fur in Yzan's barricades? Now that's wild speculation, but he is one of those few who ventured into them woods and came out, who knows what happened in there?" I'm keeping an eye on him, and that bounty hunter anyway. he thought.
"One should not try to understand Chaos," Conwar growled to novatomato, "many great men have fallen to the power of Chaos attempting to unravel its secrets." The grim servant of Sigmar put his war hammer into his belt and began to pray over the fallen sheriff. "Do not fear men, the power of Sigmar will protect us," Conwar said to the others, "we must seek out those who use this strange gift of Chaos and smite them while they still retain their human forms. This is the only way to stop them." He drew his hammer from his belt as if preparing for battle.
having been addressed by the priest in such a manner novatomato turns to him and says "One COULD say that the abilities of priests are very close to those abilities of chaos. Ignorance can lead to worse situations than knowledge, without knowledge we are merely a half fraction away from becoming chaos ourselves. It is through knowledge that understanding comes and through understanding that one can overcome the adversities of the world." Turning back to his investigation the engineer finishes his drawing without another word. (I'm not seeing anything so far.)
"Aye, by all accounts, wolfmen are only revealed by the light of the moon, however, I do recall a story whence a trio of beautiful maidens, who turned out to be of this ilk, waylaid travellers with promises of food and pleasant company, and then transformed and devoured their erstwhile 'dinner guests.'" Darian stopped and pondered a moment, rolling a handful of silver shot about in his hand as he tried to remember, "I believe there was something abnormal about their toes that was also a sign of their dark affliction..."
"A fair comment Hellbreaker, i did indeed find fur within the baricade, however i am not sure how this would kill anyone....." Sir Zantos thinks for a moment "you ask how i got out the forest as well...if i am honest i believe it to be down to this lucky rabbits foot i carry" with that Sir Zantos pulls the furry white foot out from his shirt where it sits dangling on a chain "Now I'm not superstitious but i feel a little safer with it i will admit. I am sure that if Darian had this in our little trip into the woods he would of suffered less rope burn" "As for my own observations i'm a little clueless, mostly as there are so many eccentric characters in town currently"
"I had a sergeant once, who had a whole mess'o lucky rabbits feet, horseshoes, and all sorts of paraphenalia... most unlucky bastard I ever met!" Darian chuckles and looks about at the gathered men, some nervous, some drunk, most both. "well, lets start breaking it down, who spoke to the deceased yesterday...?"
