Really nice conversion! I love the colorscheme, the bright green and yellow versus the darker cold one. Keep up the good work Gr, Imrahil
You could use the GW basing kits and texture/technical paints. I use stirland mud drybrushed with tyrant skull. They also have jungle plants and vines that would be great for a jungle theme. It’s looking great! Keep up the good work!
I thought about technical paints... Like I've seen what they can do, and it's not bad at all. I have no real counter argument, save that they look kinda plain. But so do my usual gule and flock jobs...so I can't really say shit. I haven't been yet, but I'm wondering if they have any tiny plastic foliage at the pet store for decorating fish tanks... Or something like that. Hobby town/lobby will have stuff for model trains, but I dunno how jungle model train guys get. Like, late autumn temperate forrest? Maybe my north American upbringing has spoiled the image of tropical trains... But hey. I thought vaguely about those pre-made bases that all have matching ruins on them or whatnot... Has anyone used those? Are they worth it? Also, is it worth cutting painted dudes off of bases to use them?
Skink starpriest next off the bench, so stoked to be done with characters....! Next to uuuhhhh.... Paint troops. OK look: look... I did claim that I'm not afraid of troops... But I guess we'll see how contrast goes with assembly line painting....
Man that stuff is awesome! Kudos on experimenting so boldly and successfully (imho)!! Now, please for the love of god tell me what paints you are using where so I can shamelessly copy like the sad painting sheep I am! Any help is much appreciated by a brother from another cold blooded mother Jamie
Warp lightning contrast for the green scales. Iyanden yellow contrast for the underbelly. Auric gold washed in Agrax earthshade for the metal. Red gem paint over the auric gold. (don't remember the name but it's GW) And some deep sky blue from model colour, washed in Guilliman Blue for the feathers. Vallejo hot orange for eyes. Gryph hound orange contrast shields. Black Templar contrast on the top half of the cold one, and bottom half of the trogladon. And.... Snake bite leather and cygor brown contrasts for leather and wood respectively.... I think that's it.
So I've been working up a fun list, and I'm thinking about the next box to get, as my sarus warriors sit 80% finished on my bench. been lazy on my current basing just pva glue dip in my large pot of split tea bags seal with watered down pva then drybrush bleached bone
Whew! Carnosaur is done... Been a min since an update. And I'm 90% done with my first 10 warriors. Photos of them soon. Comments welcome
The Colors look awesome, but i'd like to see some pictures taken in natural light, that will bring out all the more color Gr, Imrahil
That's a totally fair point. I had just configured that corner in the living room, and it was the best lit open space. Didn't consider that it would come out back lit and washed out. I'll take new photos when I get home.
So, here's all the painted models to date, (including my finished warriors!) and some closeups of the carnosaur in much better light. And lastly, everything I have left to go.
