I just downloaded and checked out the updated profiles for the Seraphon in the new Warcry. Overall there are point drops and reduced Wound characteristics. Generic Saurus got more attacks and saw a small point increase. Saurus Knights saw a big point increase but got stronger attacks. Skinks points were raised or lowered to keep them all within a similar range. That said, it looks like GW might have "killed" the Boltspitter Skinks. They now have the same range as Javelins but with an attack Strength of 1 (ouch). Plus, with no shield, they only have Toughness 2. https://www.warhammer-community.com...rules-for-your-grand-alliance-order-warbands/
Ok, soo... They changed a lot. Skinks are now as weak as goblins, and way to expensive so we can no longer make a high mobility shooting warband as we used to. Actually, I honestly think that their pints value for what they can offer now is some sort of mistake, as there is no way they are worth 70 points, and I hope that it will be changed in the nearest update. But that is my wishful thinking. Still, there are some others new interesting changes: The biggest winner in this season are saurus warriors – higher strength, wounds and additional attack are going to radically improve their performance. Another strong contenders are the knights, which are now elite unit with profile attack 4-4-2/4 for warspears. With this, it is easy to create melee warband based on sarus. Yet there is another way still create shooting army – with salamander’s strength gone to 4, and razodrons points drop, its easy to create more elite unit based on these two beasts. And for these who still mis old units – the underworld warband is still viable, so you can easily have at least two good shooting skinks. Although one think is bothering me – why our reaction is called “starborne”, where it is clearly scally skin from coalesced alliance ability.
They are in Tome of Champions 2021. Not included in the newest updates, but technically still viable. At least till the warcry compendium kicks in.
Yes, GW definitely nerfed our Skink ranged combat. I skimmed some other armies and it generally seems that, if a unit has decent ranged combat, they are more expensive. Knights are tough but pricey. There are some attacks and strength values that I think could be typos, but we'll see if there are FAQs later. Agreed. "Starborne" is a curious name for the ability.
Well here is a sneak peak for you all: A new Chameleon Skink for Warcry, what more will be in it for us? Grrr, Imrahil
My local shop is having a 1000pts tournament that was just announced today. What materials do I need for Warcry to get caught up with the latest rules for it? I'll obviously be running lizards and tbh I got a big enough army for whatever warband.
OK, first of all: cre rules, which can be found here: https://www.warhammer-community.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/lWKyFJUKEGebDukF.pdf There are few changes to the previous edition, the biggest one is reactions. They also tweaked movement, shoting, cover, setup... The thing is, better read that. And of course new seraphon profiles: https://www.warhammer-community.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/PfoboWFd9Pd5Xwn6.pdf
Here are all the Chameleon skinks and more: https://www.warhammer-community.com...cultists-in-the-new-warcry-box-sundered-fate/ Grrr, !mrahil
It's me or they are ugly ? The Underworld band was full of promise ! This is ... A huge disapointment!
Our ordinary warbands have more flavor imo. Can mix a lot more units etc. This one I can hardly tell which one is the leader (Edit: Okay I guess you can sort of). It seems like two models are duplicates, shame. But I will buy it regardless, I think they're kinda cute, especially the Terrawings!
Maybe I'm just too soft on the models, but I like them in general. Plus, based on the video from the community page, it looks like the Chamo with the throat crest either is duplicated or has an alternate blowpipe version. So, with that "leader" model, plus the three ranged, plus the horn-blower model (that can be modified with a blowpipe) you could get a unit of Chameleon Skinks out of it.
