I think the best difference is the legs.... its like when they remade Godzilla in 2014, he went from a basketball player to a linebacker. the BB saurus do the same lol
I haven't really paid close attention to Warcry, even though most of my gaming group is into it. I had hoped we would be into playing AoS battles, but they enjoy the speed of the game. So, I'm not very familiar with the expansion packs for Warcry, mostly the original Chaos warbands and the other starter factions. That said, I'm a little surprised at the Seraphon units chosen for Warcry. I thought we'd have either the Skink Starpriest/Priest or the Oldblood to lead us. Seeing our cavalry and flying units feels a little odd to me. And, from a fluff standpoint, I wouldn't expect to see Guard away from the Slann. But I guess they do have to become elite warriors somehow. Based on the our info in the Tome of Champions, I'd assume that the "extra" option for each of our units will be a coalesced version.
I hope they keep going with the coalesced thing I like the idea a lot! Fingers crossed! Warcry is super fun and only like 10 bucks to get into if you've already got the models, since most of your gaming group is into it. I agree with them the speed of the games is very nice.
All our saurus are born elite. with all the knowledge they will ever need to know to fight. then you add experience to that, and realize lizards don't die of old age (or if they do its so long as to be basically immortal) seeing guard in Warcry makes sense. if there was a plaque that needed to be recovered, the guards don't just guard slann, they also guard sites and relics of import.
Ha ha. I've thought for a long time that we're the "Tyranids of Fantasy". That makes sense about Saurus Guard. I had forgotten they also guard sites & relics. Still, I guess I just don't see them as an expeditionary force. Ha ha.
From the official GW AoS page on Facebook. Summary of the abilities from a guy that wrote them down in the comments: (2) Free disengage action. (2) Free attack or move if enemy model was killed. (2) Roll number of dice equivalent to ability dice, each 4+ does damage. (3) TBA (3) TBA (4) +1-3 strength and attacks. One thing I'm unsure of, but I guess is true if what he wrote is to be taken as true: For instance I roll a Quad of 1's or 2's, that net me +1 Str and Attacks? 3's and 4's = +2 and a quad of 5's or 6's will be +3 Str and Attacks?
That is correct! Not great on a low roll, but amazing on a high roll. If you had a quad 1 I'd say use the Rampage universal instead unless you really really need the extra 1 strength lol.
Much like the Monsters & Mercenaries did for the warbands available at the time of its release, I believe there may be a follow-up supplement that will add hero-like models to the new wave of warbands. Or they could release them via White Dwarf articles and then collect them all in the 2020 Tome of Champions. I don't see why they wouldn't allow heroes for all warbands, so it's probably just a matter of time I think.
IIRC, the core book contains pages with all the cards that come in the battleplan cards pack, and maybe even the layout cards for the terrain that came in the starter box (don't have the book on me right now so I can't verify). In other words, the battleplan cards pack isn't a necessary buy if you're ok with either rolling for scenarios from the book, or printing out and making your own deck. I do know that the terrain from the starter box was broken up into two sets, but neither set is specifically for WC and so they don't include their specific terrain cards (dumb decision if you ask me). There are additional terrain sets as others have mentioned which include the terrain cards & a mat for that set but also include the WC counters which are very important/useful! My recommendation, find a buddy/store who is already playing and has a terrain set that way all you'll need is your warband cards and maybe the core book reference/personal learning of the rules (if they're already playing, chances are they have the rulebook lol). If that's not an option or you're said buddy who normally has everything needed to play, then you'll have to pick up a terrain set as well.
So, it's looking like our quad is pretty modest, unless there's a specific model that really synergizes well with it. I'm hoping there's a ripperdactyl with decent attacks and a nice damage characteristic that would love an attacks and strength buff. With speed and fly, it could swoop in for a much needed attack. Other than that, I'm hoping for a useful triple. If we end up defensive, we might want the stormcast lantern guy or deepkin tidecaster out of the mercs book. If there's offensive potential, maybe the DoK slaughter queen (not sure of her name) or hag queen.
I'm not too sure, granted I have only played a few games once, but isn't the quad quite universally applicable to most of our fighters? Or are quads usually usable by the entire warband?
yes every one can use it but some can make better use of it if the damage on a guy is 2 then he is a better target then one with damage 1. the original post was saying that this ability is not good unless you have a unit that can really make use of it.
yeah the Quad is pretty universally applicable, but rather weak, unless there's a particularly solid person to use it on. I've seen some very strong quads in this game, and relatively speaking, this one is very very tame.
Is it just me or is it strange that saurus warriors with clubs has the same weapon profile as skinks If this is an indication of the future then im really worried about saurus in our new age of sigmar book
I thought that was strange too, I dont think it is an indication of our new book though. The Megaboss has like 32-35 wounds(7 in AoS), while crypt flayers have like 40(4 in AoS). I'm thinking our points are low so we can flood the board for quantity over quality kinda thing.
