I thought there was someone here that liked the Deathrattle - there you are, GW do care about them after all! I like the Ironjawz models best - they're the most characterful in my view so far and they would make good extra Black Orcs in my Greenskins force for fantasy. From the 'Faction prediction' illustration, it looks as if there will be a Fyreslayer warband coming out sometime, so as the forum's resident Fyreslayer enthusiast, I'll wait until they come out until I consider getting the game. I'm hoping that GW will release the rules and a board separately so that I could just get the Fyreslayers and Ironjawz warbands, a rulebook and a board to play the game with my dad, who's the main Greenskin fan in my household. Also the Skaven warband will be fun to play too - I would certainly play as either them or the Fyreslayers, if not both. Certainly I have never been one for competitive play - you don't exaggerate, I have met competitive players and they will literally use specific game-winning builds for fantasy, 40K and AoS whenever they play a game, despite GW's claims that tournaments are friendly affairs, which bog-standard players like me (and most others here I imagine) look down upon because we just want to have a good time and use armies with thematic, balanced builds - if we go to tournaments we generally don't do that well because sooner or later our balanced forces will get steamrollered by some git with a game-breaking unit/army that is somehow legal. However, Shadespire is still a GW game, and hopefully the rules aren't broken so you can still get a fun game out of it. Also on your final point, have you noticed that Stormcasts feature twice in the cracked mirror illustration? This may well mean that there will be multiple Stormcast Warbands to choose from, and other races might follow suit!
It is already confirmed that there will be two SCE and two Khorne Warbands at least. In the meantime I have played some more games both as Khorne and as SCE and I am slowly getting what the game is about and it is indeed very tactical. I like it a lot. I am just a bit unsure how they will achieve real balance. Hard task. I especially wonder about the Skeletons because I expect them to give away a lot of renown because they will die all the time. They even have to, to get inspired and so on. So they will have to make up for it with their goals I guess.
From a quick read-through of the Khorne deck, I've found that there are some cards you pretty much have to take and some that are just complete rubbish. Examples: Have to take: Ploy card that lets you roll an extra dice on your next attack, Upgrade card that gives you +1 damage on any weapon. Complete rubbish: Ploy card that makes it harder for your models to hit, and gives no bonuses. So yeah, it looks like there will be some pretty unbalanced decks. But if you play it without that kind of exploit, then it's pretty fun.
I think you might have misread that one, because that's what happened to me as well. There is a Khorne card that is defensive. You play it so your opponent doesn't hit you as easily. It transforms hammers into swords, which is devastating for SCE. You play it before your opponent's turn. The fluff text hints at it being used defensively.
Received my Sepulchral Guard today, lovely kit. As everything of mine is in storage I've ordered a cheap kit off off Amazon just to build them.
My Ironjawz are on order with my FLGS, he told me they'll come in next week. Pictures of the Skaven broke today. They look pretty...
I had no intention of investing in Shadespire but after a few games with a friend of mine I'm pretty interested. The fact I can play 2 games in an hour (as long as my 3 year old daughter isn't playing with the "Vikings" and stealing my tokens and cards...) really appeals to me. The only faction I'm really keen on though is the skeletons.
So, I recently purchased the starter set, after playing several games with other people's decks. I now have a deck which rewards me for dying. This is the best game ever.
I did like the game very much and I dont want to brag and stuff but I turned out to be pretty good at it! I am using stormcasts but I wont go any further untill and unless they do Seraphon/Lizardmen. Seriuosly no Blood bowl team and no Shadespire? Meanwhile the wretched vermin get everything!!! Injustice I tell Ya!
I am a bit unhappy with my Sepulchural Guard. I have yet to win a game with those guys. Slow and squishy is a weird combination. I love their look but all the others look way stronger (or let's say: easier to play strongly) right now. I have won with Khorne and SCE against everything and the Orruks my friend plays look cool as well.
Played my first game last tueday with the Ironskull's Boyz and I had a blast! My friend played his SCE and we actually tied all 3 games we played! We had to go read the Tiebreaker rules at the end of the rules booklet and we kept getting tied until we had to play rounds until we completely wiped out the opposing warband and we weren't allowed to use any ploy cards or objective cards! It was basically a bloodfest of dice rolls and I had only 3 ironjawz vs his full 3 SCE warband! I was lucky in the end and took the match! I'm just happy we didn't have to do the next and last tiebreaker which is just a roll-off
Anyone got any ideas on when they're releasing the next warbands, AKA Fyreslayers and Skavens? My guess is early 2018, anyone got something more specific?
The Fyreslayers are here! https://www.warhammer-community.com...ws-from-the-las-vegas-opengw-homepage-post-1/ I'm very interested in joining the Shadespire clan now!
