I found some Skink archers on eBay the other day for dirt cheap so I bought them, having a flick through the Battletome I can't find any rules for them. Are they usable nowadays? If so in what setting and where would I find rules for them? I'm a newbie when it comes to Lizards so any help or pointing in the right direction woud be greatly appriciated! Cheers!
They last had rules in 5th edition and one special army in 6th edition (southlands). Basically it was just the stats for a basic skink cohort where you swap the javelin and shield for a short bow, oh and of course it's poisoned (IRC). It's possible that they might have some use in the fan made 9th edition... I really haven't been following those rules.
I've got almost 50 of them, they're really nice. You cannot play them in AoS "legal" tournament where there is "WYSIWYG", but for friendly games they are pretty good (and they are also less fragile then actual skinks). I regularly use them as boltspltter users.
I used 70 of them at facehammer. All holding bows and I used them as boltspitters with shields so it should be alright.
So, they're relegated to proxies then. Note to self: check rules BEFORE buying models Ah well, at least they'll look good painted up and put with the army for display purposes lol
I like that! ;P Might have to give them shields somehow or 'invent' new rules for a 2h 'crossbow-boltspitter' type thing with slightly increased range and damage/ better chance to wound ;P
Same as the other guys here : I have 80 of them, played as blowpipes. In 5th and 6th, they used short bow, which had a very low range.
And where are the pictures?, come on you can't talk about models and a display case without showing us.
I hope to get started on the modelling this weekend, everything is still attached to sprues at the moment. I'll get a painting blog set up when there's some progress to report! Not sure about the display case, hadn't thought of it tbh, was more thinking along the lines of an extra addition for whole army photos and the like, once they're built and painted ofc
