8th Ed. Slann for list - help!?

Hey there Lustria,

What is the best lored Slann for a Saurus biased army? Enjoy having the bigger beasties on side aswell.

I have:
Scar-Vet
Skink Priest
Skink Cheif
20 Speared Saurus
20 Hw+S Saurus
12 Blowpipe Skirmisher Skinks
12 Javelin Skirmisher Skinks
10 TG
Stegadon (all options available I havn't glued on the blowpipes, bow or EoTG, I run it to what I want)

Any help will be GREATLY appreciated.

I'd say based on what you have i'd take life mate, keep those numbers alive and regrowing the dead ones.

For the steg i'd reccomend the ancient steg with giant blowpipes. the ability to shoot up to 24 poisoned shots a turn (each blowpipe fires 2D6 a turn) is much better than the bow.

However EOTG is great as well, its what i usually take.

I am planning on buying another box of TG and saurus soon (like 2-3 weeks) and a Slann aswell. I havn't played since 8th ed came out, so I am eager to play a few games and try out a Slann, seeing as they are all the rage of now Any other suggestions?

Personally, i'd use the 12 blowpipe skinks as proxy for chameleon skinks, you'll see why

And if you have the money, i'd invest in 2 salamanders. these and chameleons are THE units for lizzies in 8th IMO.

Depending on where you are with your saurus, you may want to go all hand wpn & shield. With the step up & horde rules, the spears are no where near as good as they were before, the ward save for hw & S is surprisingly effective and the hw&S are cheaper. In 8th, I have found your blocks need to be considerably larger to survive magic/missile fire and still retain enough models to have fulll static combat res. Combat is also much bloodier so you could consider fielding a horde (~40) of saurus, which can grind down just about anything short of a horde of chaos warriors.

40+ Saurus is a little out of my price range haha But still advise is advise. So I'm taking it that you are suggesting Life? To regen your casualty suffering hordes? With toughness 8??
