8th Ed. Slann placement in saurus

Just a thought about the placement of a Slann in a unit of saurus warriors.

If the unit is 5 wide with full command upgrades and a scar-veteran; can I then place my slann in the second rank as the model will not fit in the front rank? Or would I have to place the slann in the front and scar-vet in the second rank? As far as I can tell the BRB just says characters must go in the front rank unless there is no room, at which point they can be placed in the second rank

I would concur with you, 2nd rank would work fine for the Slann in this situation....until the Scar-Vet dies.

Your choice. If not all characters will fit in the front rank, the rulebook leaves it up to the player which one goes to the second rank.

A word of warning -- the Slann won't stay in the back very long. The unit champ will probably be killed in the first round of close combat.

Haven't tried this out and not sure if I will. I like the idea of the slann going in the second rank but it's highly unlikely to think he'd (hmmm do slann have gender?) be there for long once combat starts
