The words of the wise @Jorgik have been spoken long ago and reverberate to this day for it was foreseen that the one they call SlanntaClause would take up brush and fight valiantly with his miniature models until they doth look good - that day is not this day. But it is foreseen it will come to pass that the heinous un-primed Gray shall fade into the background quite literally as it is slathered in all manner of exotic colours. My next funding will go towards paints I promise - but this is my painting and converting blog so first all these images can be considered the base WIP for conversions and painting to preserver how they came to me into the annals of history
-which older models do you deem nice ? I bid on reasonably priced ebay joblots mostly - I can't always afford the better deals for higher prices so hope to get lucky on the more mish mash lots
Sorry for radio silence in this blog - the first thing I'm acutely working on I'm unable to show due to competition rules
I love that you have so many of the older edition models and models from other brands than GW! I look forward to more Posts from you! They're fun to watch and what a hilarious name you got yourself haha
@CantTouchDis these are two leafs I found lying around and wanted to capture their colours for inspiration - ultimately I took both home but they do preserve better as pictures I didn't get a good focus on the second as I was heading somewhere and I was in the middle of turning into a black woman - nah that's my fiances hand and foot But you can sort of see the nice deep reds offset with orange - Id deffinatly recommend taking nature photos and making sure u get a focused shot
Those are a great find. Really great colours. With your collection of Slann, you could havean army themed for all seasons. An awesome Fall inspired army with the colours of those leaves. An Icy cool winter army, a lush green and red and orange spring army and a hot blue green summer army. Or something like that.
Great seasonal Ideas I have a possible 3 Slann coming my way so i'll go up to about 12 Slann 10 normal and 2 dead so one Kroak and one other Zhtul? or someone uniquely made
Not familiar with the Zhtul character, but I do know of Zuul. In which case you just need to have him jump out of a refrigerator. 3 slann per season, a dead one in the fall and winter armies. Really could be a cool concept army.
Zuul might be him - urhm the one who died because of the deamon and went kinda crazy when he aligned his thoughts with it?
And the concept is really great tbh i'm gonna hope to buy more of my models unpainted now to achive this possibly but I'm so slow at this hobby still working on my entry for golden serpent
Zuul is from "Ghostbusters" movie, not sure about the other, although could be completely different in other languages too!
I found one called Zhul - only by name on the internet I can't track much more about him with a brief search mainly because I'm lazy - to keep this on-topic about my army blog my conversion for the competition is infuriatingly more difficult than I had imagined - I'm propping bits up and gluing them one at a time it is painstakingly long - especially when I go to check if its stable and knock it over having to start propping it up again. I wish I could say more. - Also I've started displaying my army as one force ontop of my cabinate - but will need to get more based to put them up there - many are laying around not even on temporary bases because I'm afraid to commit them to one - But I am going to get a good lot into movement trays in the future so will be looking to square base them. But I fear the squares of other industry models wouldn't conform 100% to games workshop so I'll just end up buying bulk bases at some point.
Yeah from initial design to finished product is quite a bit of work, and in a comp like this, it won't be easy to win, but at the end you will have a completely custom model on your army. That's always an amazing thing.
Yeah that's how I'm viewing it - or that i'll ruin a model in attempt to win some cool prizes but worth the risk
Started basing my non GW models on squares for when I get movement trays - Here is my T-Rex (Todd Rex) and some raptors 2/6 only had 2 squares that size for them
