    Either or both of those could work.

    Does that mean that the Slann disciplines have been improved over what we saw in the initial army book release?

    That's great news! Is the Slann comparable to our 8th edition version in terms of power/choice?

    Btw! Treehorn? Alpha pteranodon?? Did I miss something or is their a bigger terradon on the way and is the treehorn the rare steggy as to triceratops the special baby steg...

    Disciplines are now all useful and not just half of then like 8th. In terms of power it's hard to say. We don't have quite the same opportunities to generate more power dice, but we have other very good things.

    A minor update on disciplines:

    The new discipline system is bases on categories. There will be 3 categories:
    1. Arcane power
    2. Utility
    3. Arcane Knowledge
    A slann is allowed to pick 1 discipline from each category (so you can have a total of 3 different disciplines on 1 Slann). There will be 10 disciplines in total with 4 in the utility category. Generally speaking power and knowledge is more expensive than utility disciplines, but they're not unreasonable. A slann with the 3 of the most expensive disciplines will cost you roughly 400pts. An army is only allowed to take a total of 3 disciplines, unless it's a grand army in which case it's allowed to take a total of 6 disciplines.
    There is no restrictions on point cost, only the amounts.

    The disciplines are made so you can pick just one and still feel like your Slann is something else that just a regular lvl 4 mage. Obviously the utility disciplines refer to something that doesn't increase the actual casting power of the Slann.

    That sounds really good. I'm glad they fixed up the Slann-discipline issue. I'm very intrigued to see what disciplines they came up with.


    Do you know if all the army books will be released at the same time, or trickled out one release after another?

    Deadline is November, but each committee is allowed to release their book once it's done (and have been approved).

    Hopefully the committee have arranged a date with the Rules Team for either today or tomorrow (that was the plan). Once things are approved I'll be able to drop many more sneak peaks until the book is complete. If the book gets approved today/tomorrow I don't expect the committee to spend,that many days fixing errors and shortening rules etc

    Yeah, NOW i'm really interested in slanns!
    If the "no-5th-level" thing is a general rule for every army i have to say that i agree: max lv 4th in the whole universe sounds good, at least to me. If we're gonna see other armies having access to lv5 wizards though things would be different!
    The disciplines mechanics sound nice, i can't wait to see and hopefully try all the possibilities our new book will give us!

    When the book is released, will it be released as a complete package (fluff, art, etc.) or will it be the just the rules for the time being?

    Minor sneak peak #2
    The Spinosaurus is the great wonder and mystery of the Lizardmen army. Many have come up with suggestions and most have had a hard time agreeing. Luckily though it wasn't actually that big of an issue for the committee and I think their solution is fine.
    For a cheap price you can get the monster now with 4A, poison, born predator and magic bacon. From here on you can upgrade the monster to your liking. I won't specify the amount or the specific upgrades, but having playtested the monsters it's definitely worth it. I could easily see of become a stable in many list since it's a decent monster without upgrades and a wonderful monster just with a single upgrade. What you choose will define its role and the purpose you need it for. Personally I'm probably going for a cheap monster, but that's just me. Remove that all monster cause terror = -1Ld so that important to remember as well. The monster is also fairly fast with M7 and of you combine it with path of beast (attribute) you can quickly turn it into something very interesting!

    Obviously with a monster that have seen heated debates and lots of suggestions it'll be hard to fully please everyone, but I can guarantee that with the current rules it'll definitely be worth it.

    Some of the things the Slann will get can be quite nasty, so for now lvl 5 might not be necessary ;)

    If it turns out the Slann is completely outdated, then we might see something improve. But I have a feeling that this is not the case.
