8th Ed. Spears or sheild and one handed weapon?

Seemingly this is now a moot discussion, I just saw a rumor that the additional attacks can't generate further attacks.

Still a question of whether pred fighters makes spears any better.

Any of the new books had spears as an option for free?

I want to say I've seen that in some book somewhere, but if I had to guess spears will be +1 points still.

I just thought of something else that might shift us towards spears, that being the skink priest access to Lore of Beasts. If you are counting on getting those saurus to s5t5, you probably want those extra attacks and you'll count on your T5 instead of parry save. You'll also want to maximize the Str5 attacks and PF in that case.

I like spears, but like others have said you need to have a good number of ranks to make them keep their worth.

IMHO Hand weapons.

Rumours say that support attacks dont benefit from Predatory Fighter rule.
With hand weapons & shield you get free 6+ ward.

The bonus attacks don't generate additional attacks.
6 wide 4 deep gives you 18 attacks with hand weapons, or 24 attacks with spears.
For each 6 rolled, you make predatory hunter attack. Predatory hunter attacks don't make more predatory hunter attacks.

G'day All,

First time poster long time lurker.
Just thought I'd weigh in and say spears are now a free upgrade, not sure if that'll make me now run a more hordie list with spears or not but will try it out, managed to have a quick flick through the new book today.

Welcome Knackaz,

Spawning of Bob prefers spears. They are easier to draw. And maintain.

Love an excuse for classic Bob.
