8th Ed. Spears question

Another lizardman player at my store has said that spears give you an extra rank of attacks not supporting attacks. I could not find this rule so is it true so that spearmen get 2 ranks of 2 attacks and 1 rank of 1 attack.

You should check out the "fight in extra ranks" special rule, you only get one supporting attack with saurua
