As toxic as fans of the original trilogy are, I don't believe any of the Fandom Menace posed threats against a baby. I hope I'm not proven wrong.

I hadn't thought of this. It's like poetry, it rhymes.

I liked Darth Maul but he died too easily.
I always thought Dooku was kind of a tool.
I thought General Grievous was a really stupid, extremely poorly written character.

Yeah, I guess that is one of the things that gets worse and worse if you don't stop it.

    :(:(:(:(:(:(

You don't really believe a word that that old woman Plinkett says, do you? He's another OT purist like J.J. Abrams, and one of the reasons we got such a bad Sequel Trilogy is because of such people moaning about the 'nostalgia' and 'good acting' being lost in more recent Star Wars material.

I must say I'm disappointed in you.

Those Reylo weirdos certainly have several screws loose. I thought they would have been satisfied with how Episode IX ended, and that they would be able to tell apart fiction from real life.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if OT purists had done the same, but they are innocent (of that crime at least) until proven guilty.

I could probably hit my target more often then they could, and I’ve never fired an actual weapon!

The weird thing about Star Wars weapons is that they are super sloooooow compared to modern firearms.
So I kinda understand why they have huge problems with moving targets. But it is more than that, they even fail to hit stuff that an average archer or crossbowman would have no problems hitting. Stuff that is, like, 20m away or so.

I have shot military rifles with a muzzle velocity of close to Mach 3 (over 900m/s) and at those bullet speeds you don't even lead (shoot in front of the target so the bullets intercept) people running to any side, 200m away from you. You just put them directly into the crosshair and pull the trigger. If you don't handle your weapon grossly incorrectly then it is ridiculously easy to hit something. I had no problem at all hitting a head-sized target at 350m, and I wasn't a sniper or _that_ well trained. In fact almost all of the regular dudes in my company could do the same.

    The other thing is cadence.
My assault rifle was capable of firing 750 rounds a minute (12 per second). Even at Jedi reaction speeds and if you assume that they can move their hands ten times as quickly as a normal human, they would not be able to move their lightsaber quickly enough to deflect bullets.
And that's far from the cadence of a proper machine gun. The one I shot did 20 rounds per second out of a single barrel and a gatling gun can easily do 50 per second.
Those heavy machine gun blasters in Star Wars are ridiculously slow in that regard as well.

So yeah, for future weapons I have to say they all really suck. Slow speed, low cadence, bad accuracy and seemingly also not a lot of impact either as we see pretty thin materials blocking them.

    that's totally true.
Of course, this is one of the main things in SW, for which we need suspension of disbelief. For that kind of movies, you are forced to heavily reduce the deadliness of personal weapons.

I did notice that in some movies the shots were seemingly slow, around the speed of nerf darts. I was aware that modern weaponry was fast, but dang, that really is fast!

might I inquire what weapon you and your squad fired?
except for the heroes, because remember Han Solo has the lucky feat and keeps rolling neat 20s on his to hit rolls.

There are even faster ones. Some sniper rifles exceed mach 3, which has some really nasty effects, even with small calibers.

I was trained to use the following weapons:
    - assault rifle H&K G36A including night vision scope
    - submachine gun MP2A1 (Uzi)
    - machine gun MG3 (basically a slightly modernized MG42)
    - pistol H&K P8
    - grenade launcher HK69
    - Panzerfaust 3 (a recoilless anti tank weapon)
    - hand grenades DM51

    .... I think that's all.

Yeah, the Original and Sequel trilogies are riddled with plot conveniences like these to enhance the escapist feel (one of the many reasons why I rate them as inferior).

Oh what’s that? Your Stormtroopers were rigorously trained in Imperial academies all across the galaxy? Too bad they couldn’t hit an unarmoured smuggler at point-blank range because plot armour says they have to miss. Ridiculous.
