    I can't decide between two:

    Writer/Director: George Lucas ($5)
    Hero: Luke Skywalker ($3)
    Droid: BB-8 ($3)
    Villain: Darth Maul ($3)

    or

    Writer/Director: George Lucas ($5)
    Hero: Anakin Skywalker ($5)
    Droid: R2D2 ($5)
    Villain: Rian Johnson (FREE)

I vote for... none of the above.

I think someone who actually, genuinely understands and loves the Star Wars universe needs to write a completely new story.

There's an overabundance of places and people they could use for this. I think part of the problem with the recent movies is they keep trying to change/add to the original story.

One of these things is not like the other...

The last one ("Not fighting what we hate, saving what we love") isn't exactly a strategy. The other three are methods of achieving an aim. The last one is determining what the aim is...

If that's contestable, then I would say Trojan Horse. Everyone knows it now and so the surprise value is redundant.

Only in the most literal sense (as in the actual usage of the horse). The usage inside agents and sabotage is just as relevant and effective today.

Fair enough, if we're not being literal then it would be choke point. Way too many ways that a stationary force can be wiped out with aircraft, drones, missiles, etc.

Use of double agents, sabotage, etc. is entirely prolific in this day and age even outside of the theatre of war...

I’m also stuck between two combos, but different ones.

Having a film with Jyn, R2 and Krennic would be great, but we already have one such film - Rogue One itself, and because all the main characters died we can’t have a sequel. Additionally if we pitted either Jyn or Krennic against the other heroes/villains there would be no contest, so I’ll sadly have to leave these characters out.

I don’t have anything against Anakin as a character personally, as the only thing I see wrong with him is that some of his love lines were a bit dodgy, but I see that now as being due to the fact that he spent his childhood on a desert planet with just his mother, some Droid parts and largely male friends for company, and then spent ten years training to join a religious order with celibacy as one of its core tenets. I don’t think anyone who’d had a childhood and adolescence like that would know much about what to say when initiating romance.

Anakin vs Darth Maul would be a great match-up for another Prequels-set film, as the two definitely don’t fight in the trilogy and I don’t recall seeing them fight in the Clone Wars animated series either, so combo 1 is:

    Writer/Director: Lucas ($5)
    Hero: Anakin ($5)
    Companion: Gonk Droid ($1)
    Villain: Maul ($3)

I know R2 is Anakin’s companion, but of course that would total $18 which is over the budget. Neither L3 or BB-8 existed in the time of the Prequel Trilogy (and neither are that good characters in my opinion) so the Gonk Droid it is. He’s probably just wandering around in some sort of Tatooine market doing his stuff in the background as Anakin walks past.

However, I can bring R2 into the mix if I sub out George for Gareth Edwards, as Edwards really brought back the ‘War’ into Star Wars with Rogue One after the mess that was the Farce Awakens threatened to return the franchise to silly escapism, so combo 2 is:

    Writer/Director: Gareth Edwards ($2)
    Hero: Anakin ($5)
    Companion: R2 ($5)
    Villain: Maul ($3)

    On the other hand...

I thoroughly agree with this. Star Wars definitely needs brand new stories 110%. The only two Disney films I still hold to be part of my canon are the ones which brought in some actually decent stories - Rogue One (which filled a plot hole and spectacularly brought the grimdark back into the franchise) and Solo (which was a decent origin story with some significant hero mortality, but wasn’t up there with Episodes I-III and Rogue One in terms of story). We need more films like this, that explore the universe without having to cling to the Original Trilogy (or indeed any other part of the franchise for that matter) for its plot. No more Planet-Killing-Death-Star-Planet-things please.

I understand and love the Star Wars universe, and would be willing to have a chance if anyone actually backed me.

    My choices are fairly easy:

Writer/Director: Gareth Edwards ($2) with help from Rian Johnson
    Hero: Anakin Skywalker ($5)
    Droid: GNK Droid ($1)
    Villain: Darth Maul ($3)

Gareth Edwards for $2 is an absolute steal - how he’s rated cheaper than JJ Abrams I do not know. And while I wouldn’t want Rian Johnson as the lead creative on the film I think it would benefit from some of his cinematography and plotting (say what you will about TLJ but if nothing else it did at least look visually stunning, and a bit of the intricate plotting from Knives Out certainly wouldn’t hurt). The hero is probably the toughest one - while Jyn is in my opinion a better character than Anakin, the nature of her inclusion would require the film to take an angle I’m not a fan of - either erasing her great ending in Rogue One or basing it off her time in the Partisans which doesn’t interest me much. My choice of Anakin is more based around the other characters it would involve; while I think the PT as a whole is pretty meh, I do strongly believe that the era has the best characters. If the likes of Ahsoka or Rex or to be honest, most other major PT characters were on there, I would pick them, but for now Anakin will have to do.

Droid wise while none of the others are bad I’m not hugely fussed about them, and GNK Droids are amazing so that was an easy pick. And Maul is by far the best villain of the lot, so that rounds out the choices.

Of course, if I could really pick a movie/TV Show etc...

It would be an animated TV Show set after Rebels, between Episodes VI and VII, and would feature Ahsoka, Sabine and Rex (and maybe some others) hunting for Ezra and Thrawn. Ideally there would be plenty of cameos/guest stars from Rebels and possibly Clone Wars, and perhaps some nice “where are they now” for some of the more minor OT characters for whom it hasn’t already been revealed. Doctor Aphra would also be a fun character to include assuming she isn’t killed off before then, and an idea I got from Twitter would have Barriss Offee being kept prisoner on board the ship with her and Ahsoka having a similar dynamic to the Doctor and Missy in Series 10 of Doctor Who. Every now and then there would be a flashback to immediately after Thrawn and Ezra jump to hyperspace, showing what the two of them did to survive and hopefully featuring some characters from the new Thrawn Trilogy like Commodore Faro and a Canon version of Pellaeon. Potential villains would be the Yuuzhan Vong/Grysks and possibly some various Empire/criminal factions, although the focus with the Empire should be less on defeating the “evil remnants” and more with reconciling what happens once it’s largely disbanded and the war over. Ideally the creative team behind Clone Wars and Rebels would be reunited and the show would be the third in a “trilogy” of its own of TV Shows.
