Dare I mention that Disney are creating a new Star Wars series?

 

Which is?

Are you referring to that awful looking Star Wars Resistance cartoon?

 

Given it’s obvious we aren’t the target audience, I don’t think we can pass as much judgement on it as we inevitably will, at least success wise. Dave Filoni did do both The Clone Wars and Rebels though, which were both fantastic, so I doubt it will be as bad as we currently think it will be

 

To each their own, but I saw the trailer and it looked pretty damn bad.

One could say that it might just be me, but the like to dislike ratio would strongly indicate otherwise:




Even more interestingly, there is a comment under the video that received more likes than the video itself (18k vs. 13k). I honestly can't remember ever seeing that happening before (although I'm sure on rare occasion it has). Take it for what you will, but it is definitely not a good sign in regards to the reception the cartoon is likely to receive.




Could it turn out to be great? Sure, it's possible, but I don't have a great deal of confidence in the Disney owned Lucasfilm crew (more specifically, the people in charge of guiding the franchise). I'm not trying to persuade you to dislike it; if you love it, then by all means enjoy it.

Only time will tell.

Sorry friends I’ve been very busy of late, but yes, I was referring to that - just wanted to find out everybody’s opinions on it. I was underwhelmed by the trailer to say the least, and for once I do agree with @NIGHTBRINGER on a Star Wars topic - it does look pretty awful. The jokes didn’t amuse me (at least the ones on the trailer didn’t) and this comes from someone who enjoys watching Jar Jar. In my view Jar Jar’s Frank Spencer-style antics are comedy genius compared to this.

Also just the central plot revealed by the trailer puts me off it - a bunch of kids zooming around in starships and defeating trained adult soldiers is exactly what put me off Rebels, which was similarly oriented towards kids. Compare this with the Clone Wars, where even in the first series (which again was oriented towards youngsters primarily) you have trained adult professionals (and adolescent Padawans) as the heroes, something we know and enjoy from Episodes I-III. Similarly in the OT and ST the characters are either adults or on the verge of adulthood. Maybe it’s just me, but I just think it’s a bit far-fetched when you have these supposedly trained troopers who are then beaten by a motley band of children with firearms, their pet astromech and a tag along alien. I understand that others do enjoy this sort of thing and I don’t mind that one bit - it’s just not my cup of tea.

All in all, I’m just going to wait for the next series of the Clone Wars to appear, even if they are continuing to have Wesley Crusher’s female Star Wars counterpart interfering.

 

I won't be watching it!

Clone Wars should be fun though, I'll be checking that out for sure.
