Poe I think. He still didn't get much character development and he's still that Captain Kirk/Luke Skywalker wannabe, even mutinying against the very organisation he joined. Although I loved the bit where Leia slapped him and gave him a good telling off for trying to be a flyboy. Absolutely loved that part.
I agree that Poe could have been a lot better... but surely you do not put him on the level of Rose? He as least has a few good moments sprinkled in here and there, whereas she is dull and boring throughout.
He has that stupid moment where he takes out all the guns on the dreadnought by himself, which was pretty dull and OT-reminiscent. In fact I fell his best moment was being slapped in the face by Leia.
I’d say that they were on a par with each other. At least Rose shows that you don’t have to be a fit brunette to be a Star Wars heroine, yet now that I remember it was interesting seeing Poe meet Rey for the first time because it makes you think back to 7 and realise that they hadn’t met each other before. But I would say both could have been developed quite a bit better.
I received my Blu-ray of the movie yesterday. So I am going to watch it again soon. I still think that the movie is not as bad as some very hateful and loud people say. Many of them are just butthurt because their theories were just wrong. They would hate it just as much if it would have been different.
I didn't think it was that bad, the only things I disliked about it were the Princess Leia surviving in space and flying over to the ship like Superman scene and possibly Poe destroying all the Dreadnought's guns by himself (it would be like a WWII fighter destroying all of a city's Anti-Aircraft guns single-handedly - pretty stupid if you ask me). I loved how he was told off for his idiotic 'flyboy' attitude though - that was done spot on. Indeed everything else I was fine with, including Luke's performance, which still made him extremely powerful but in a more subtle way to the one that everyone was expecting.
I didn't even mind the fact that Leia, a force user, is able to (barely) survive being blown into space, for me it was just the execution of that scene that was kinda poor. I also liked that Luke isn't stealing the show from the main characters and that they did make him less two dimensional. Poe is.... a bit OP in space. Meh. Star Wars has done such stuff before.
