8th Ed. Stegadon, all models hit

So I tried using the search because I'm sure this has been asked before, but I couldnt find anything.

So I had my stegadon fighting a Hellpit Abomination yesterday, and the abom rolled an attack that hit all models in base contact. I know that templates hit the stegadon and riders, but this was different. Would the stegadon be hit once or would the stegadon and it's riders all get hit?

Depends on the wording.....

something like all models in bas contact take 1 st 6 hit...
then you would probaly randomize the hit slike shooting.

if it was something like everypart of all models take a st6 hit.
then i would immagine that all parts got hit.

The wording was "All models in base contact take X strength Y hits".

I actually ran into this question a couple of days ago also. Here's what I found, though it's a bit dated: http://warhammer.org.uk/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=69684

The Stegadon is a single model with multiple parts, therefore the attack is randomized in the same manner as impact hits or shooting since it is not explicitly a template attack. Works for me!
