Does his special irresistble force also cause a miscast?

No, it does not. I believe if you read his rules, it does not say IF and Miscast. In the faq (about miscasts) I believe if mentions that it is possible to have IF and no miscast with items and abilities.

I have read over this may times, and found it rater inconclusive as to weather it did or not? :shifty:

Same hence the question.

Which FAQ should i look at the main rulebook?

Yeah this is a carry over from 7th ed.

They need to spell it out a little more clearly.

How does it work with things like Teclis or the book of Hoeth?

This doesn't work the way I originally thought but, having re-read the relevant rules, here is my interpretation and the references that support it.

Tetto'Eko casts with infinite force without a miscast if he rolls at least a natural dice roll of 3, makes the minimum casting value and he rolls a double from 1 to 5 without also rolling a double 6

He casts with infinite force and a miscast if he rolls a double 6 (unless it is a LM civil war and a slann has becalmed him!)

Enormous Tome page 32 Not enough power, need to roll natural minimum of 3 to cast
Enormous Tome page 33 (twice) double 6 causes infinite force and a miscast.
Enomous Tome page 34 magic items or abilities can cause infinite force or miscasts separately from one another
LMB page 69 as amended by LMB FAQ 1.3 All Heavens spells (or all opponent's spells on D6 roll of 1) cast with IF on a double if successfully cast
ET FAQ 1.4 Miscasts on any double cause miscasts but spell will only be cast if casting roll is successful so you can fail to cast but still miscast (not relevant to T'E unless an item forcing miscasts also applies when any successful roll with double would be both miscast and IF).

I´ve checked the FAQ, didn´t find nothing of this abillity being just 1d6, did they exclude this??? I´m playing rolling 2d6, as the armybook says... how should I do, forget the previous faq and only consider the 1.4, rolling 2d6 or what?

cheers,
Marcos

The newest FAQ is a replacement of the old, so only it applies.

Actually, I don't think he has to make the minimum casting value if he rolls a double. Just like a normal IF, once you see that double, the actual count on the dice is irrelevant (p33 BRB).

BEEGfrog is correct. Much like Teclis and the book of hoeth, the rules specifically state, "On any SUCCESSFUL casting roll that includes a double". In order to be successful, two conditions apply:

1. total raw dice roll is >=3

2. Total casting level is achieved.

Double 6s ignore part 2 since they have a separate rule but doubles of any other type must meet both conditions. Accordingly, if Tetto-eko was attempting chain lightning (15+) and threw 3 dice with 4,4,4 for a casting value of 14, the spell would fail. Same thing applies for Teclis and book of hoeth since they also include the "successful casting roll" wording.
