8th Ed. The Burning Shore

I spotted this the other day when looking at the Black Library website. It is about a Bretonnian treasure hunt into Lustria and was wondering if anybody had read it and what they thought?

I read it when I was in the army and all I can say is: I thought it was really bad. It had very little substance. If you're looking for an amazing adventure book about lustria and the lizardmen in general, that book isn't it! Truly it was very bland and in my opinion the lizardmen were described all wrong. For example, in this one chapter the author describes a stegadon and how it wasn't "adjusted to war" and ran off in the middle of fighting. Absolutely absurd! The author had no idea what warhammer is about and what the lizardmen are about. Or atleast I think so. So honestly, I doubt its worth the cash.

The book was a decent read and one of the few lizardmen books out there. Was it amazing, no. But then again I would imagine lizardmen would be a hard race to write well. The story is told by the human perspective so think of it like the imperial guard uplifting primer. In the primer the descriptions of the enemies were wrong, because it was based on perspective. The battle is mostly shown through human perspective so of course when the general gets unlucky with dice the stegadon flees. It happens. Though I would recommend it, just for the lizardmen magic phase.

Hmm contradicting opinions. Yes I'd imagine that Lizards are very hard to write for and make them believable. I read the temple of the serpent it think it was and the Lizard perspective was quite interesting. I may pick up the book and give it a go anyway as I'm going on holiday and tend to read through books pretty quickly.
