The GREAT 40k thread

guard takes 1st turn and pushes forward. i was already strangled...

Slowly but surely i fortified my rear line, picking apart a couple of tanks each turn with good use of my forces, and diminishing some of the threats by suffocating them with bodies.
it ended with a kroot victory 66-44

That first army makes me sad they didn't have that for 7th edition. They look so much more fun than the giant robot reroll army I always saw. Hope you had a good game!

Oh, it was!
and yes, kroot is definitely a solid way to play Tau with a different approach, with also some aggressive melee (despite still having the possibility to bring some solid shooting with the hammeread and the 9 battlesuits)

A previous apocalypse i forgot to post about...

Tiranids vs Tau

the Nids are swarming a system home of tau and allies. A kroot world is condemned, however Tau don't want to leave their allies to a horrible death, so they are coordinating an evacuation plan. Alas, the nids are closing in, so the tau must face the horde alongside with kroots, to buy time for the transports to take the people to the evacuation sites where Manta awaits.

Campo 3.jpg

all the objectives have special rules:
No man's land.
che central one (the bridge) gives points since T1 for its control, and additional points in the following rounds
the abandoned village was filled with food, the nids go in a frenzied state and gain +1 to str and +1 to melee attacks if controls it.
the Tau station provides a energy field that absorbs attacks, giving damage reduction 1
the river (thanks to the dense foliage on the banks), blocks LOS for infantry units

"home" objectives
the Nids' act as synapse
the Tau's spaceport gives boost to leadership

THE SLAUGHTER

hungry for the food, the nids swarm toward the village, ready to crush the defenders, despite the heavy gunline in the rear
Fight 5.jpg

once dealt with the village's defenders, the nids are ready to crush the artilley line in the rearguard... they will be able to obtain the result, but at the cost of depleting their forces

Fight 6.jpg

ferocious battles with staggering losses from both sides, in the first rounds the bridge can't be held firmly by neither side

Fight 3.jpg

Fight 4.jpg

the nids push toward that side, trying once again to overcome the defenders

Fight 1.jpg

...but despite employing their strongest creature, the firepower of the defenders and the ferociousness of the kroot proved to be too much, and the threat is annihilated
Fight 2.jpg

with no more resistance on this flank, and the nids weakened on the other side, the Tau will be able to converge in the middle during the last 2 rounds, thus seizing the victory and successfully complete the evacuation

Very cool report, nice to see so many kroot on the field. Always great to see tyranids on the field as well, sadly they didn't get to ear as well as they would have liked.

It has IG. How could it not be magnificent? Looking forward to the pictures!

That's the problem... there won't be IG. :(

We basically have 2 IG players.
one will not play, and the other one it's me... but i need to side with chaos to have 3v3 and not 2v4

I have modified the specific lore for the battle to justify the lack of guards, but it's sad nonetheless.

I would bring mine to the fight, but that would require me to finish rebasing them, and since they're skaven-guard, it wouldn't work well...
