Hello and welcome to my blog. Thank you for checking it out! I have two projects ongoing at the moment. Currently I am trying to collect all the Lizardmen models (well, not ALL of them - but the ones I am interested in). My other, much harder project is to collect all the legendary lords from the video game Total War: Warhammer. Enjoy! Okay this first post is just going to be a summary of everything I've done so far to get the ball rolling. Though I am trying to focus on legendary lords I also have been painting regular troops to build up my painting skill. So I will be posting some things on here from time to time not related to my main goal (to collect and paint all the legendary lords). Okay so the very first thing I got was the Start Collecting Lizardmen box: Kroq-Gar (riding Grymloq) Kroq-Gar, known as the Last Defender of Xhotl is an ancient Saurus Oldblood, the last of the remaining Saurus warriors from the now ruined temple-city of Xhotl. The spawning that brought Kroq-Gar into the world produced a handful of other Saurus, each marked for greatness. In the instinctive ways of battle-cunning these warriors were unsurpassed by any of their kind, and each possessed an innate dominion over the native beasts of the jungle. Kroq-Gar’s spawning coincided with the rearing of a brood of mighty Carnosaurs, and he claimed the largest and most ferocious as his own. Following the Great Catastrophe, it was none other than the great Lord Mazdamundi, High Slann Mage-Priest of Hexoatl, that summoned Kroq-Gar to his temple-city, choosing him to lead the great Saurus armies that remained. Mazdamundi gifted Kroq-Gar with the ancient artefact known as the Hand of Gods, with which he could sear the flesh from his enemies’ bones. Since that day, Mazdamundi has assigned Kroq-Gar the sacred task of exterminating those creatures not part of the Old Ones’ Great Plan. Over his long existence, Kroq-Gar has fought many wars — leading the armies of Hexoatl, or joining other hosts to aid them in battle. There is no continent upon which Kroq-Gar and Grymloq have not fought, but for the last defenders of Xhotl, the battle is not yet over. Revered Spear of Tlanxla: This weapon was said to have been wielded by the warlike Old One deity Tlanxla as he rode his sky chariot into battle. It hums with ancient energy, and those struck by it are overcome by doom-laden visions that sap their will to fight. Hand of Gods: Kroq-Gar can create a searing ball of light in the palm of his hand, which can then be directed at his enemies. Saurus Warriors When the Lizardmen march to battle, it is the Saurus who make up the hardened core of the fighting forces. This is no surprise, for the Saurus were created solely for the purpose of war and protection. The Old Ones cultivated this race of reptilian warriors, although whether they created them entirely, or raised them up from some primordial life form of the jungles, is not clear. What is assured, however, is their role and function. In the prehistory of the world, a time before the coming of Elves or Dwarfs, it was the Saurus who pacified the lands, fighting great battles and exterminating entire species in accordance with the Old Ones' plans. Although unable to master more complicated devices, Saurus use simple weapons to devastating effect - wielding obsidian-tipped spears and heavy clubs spiked with jagged stones. Using their great strength, Saurus can leave the roads and hack through the dense jungles of Lustria using brute force alone. Cold One Riders / Saurus Knights Saurus warriors are formidable fighters, but when mounted atop a Cold One they become a shock force capable of delivering an absolute mauling. Those foes who can muster the courage to stand before the sight of oncoming Cold One cavalry find themselves beset by a whirlwind of biting jaws, slashing talons and jabbing spear thrusts. Those Saurus Warriors blessed by Itzl have an innate aptitude for mounted warfare. They exude a musk not dissimilar to the rank odour produced by the Cold Ones themselves, allowing them to form bonds with the otherwise hostile creatures. The Saurus have dewclaws that are perfect for gripping the thick-scaled hides of their reptilian steed, leaving them free to carry both spears and shields. All such spawning produce a Pack Leader who instinctively leads the group - knowing where to find the Cold Ones and how best to break them in as mounts. Lastly I purchased a Skink box and Tehenhauin for a battle against my friend who had an Empire Army. I purchased Tehenhauin because I have a strong suspicion he will be a future legendary lord DLC for the Lizardmen in the video game. Skink Cohort Skittish and quick, Skinks stand out from the rest of the sluggish Lizardmen. They are the mass workforce designed by the Old Ones to perform many different roles, and without them, Lizardmen society would quickly collapse. Skinks take up weapons during their many patrols as well as to join the fighting during times of war. As troops, they range between reckless audacity and sudden panic. Their skittish nature makes them much more prone to routing than the stoic Saurus. Most commonly, the Skinks advance before the bulk of the main army, harassing the foe's advance with hails of darts. When massed together in a fighting cohort, they can bulk out a Lizardmen battleline. The volleys of javelins and darts that the Skinks can unleash are astoundingly dangerous, for they have learned to coat their weapons with lethal toxins distilled from venomous amphibians, insects and serpents that thrive in the steamy jungle and profuse swamps of Lustria. Tehenhauin The greatest of the Red Crested Skinks, Tehenhauin has a zeal for slaughtering Skaven very rarely seen among the ranks of the dispassionate Lizardmen. It seems impossible for a short-lived Skink to attain such a lifespan, but it is whispered that as a snake sheds its skin and is renewed, so too does Sotek’s Chosen. On the battlefield, he triumphantly grasps the Plaque of Sotek as he leads his apostles into the fray, commonly attacking in the manner of his twin-tailed deity: forked assaults. A serpent strikes quickly and so too does Tehenhauin, focusing his army’s venomous energy on the enemy’s weak points. Blade of the Serpent’s Tongue: This sacrificial dagger was crafted by the most skilled of Chaqua’s Skink artificers and enchanted to drip with deadly venom. Plaque of Sotek: Upon this stone plaque is inscribed an extract of the Prophecy of Sotek that grants Tehenhauin additional warding. Tide of Serpents: Tehenhauin is surrounded with a swarm of serpents, the beasts of the jungle drawn to him as a child of Sotek. So that's it for all my complete projects between November 2017 and now! Thanks a lot for checking out my blog, and check back soon to see Lord Mazdamundi, my current project. My hope is to complete this dream within two years, but we'll see if life gets in the way. EDIT: Well, that didn't happen. I ended up enjoying building my Lizardmen and then Wood Elf army way too much and the Legendary Lord project has just been sidetracked for the longest time. I've also been sinking a lot of time into the Legendary Lore mod for Total War Warhammer. Maybe one day I can make the dream a reality.
That's a lot on your plate right there! Especially since some of those models have been out of production for quite a while now. Good luck!
Really fantastic work you have done here (and a very ambitious project you are undertaking). I like how both the lizards and the tree people look, more pictures when you have them please
Next I picked up a second-hand Sylvaneth army, beautifully painted, and cheaper than if I had purchased them unpainted and unassembled from Games Workshop! Dryads Dryads are spiteful creatures with hearts akin to shards of ice. In the soul of a Dryad, there is neither room nor regard for compassion or mercy, merely an uncompromising dedication to Athel Loren that makes even the most heartfelt vows of Elf or Man seem trivial by comparison. To harm the forest is to invoke a deadly and unyielding vengeance that ends only when the transgressor's body has been ruined and broken. Only a fool deliberately offers insult to a Dryad, but alas, these spirit-maids are so utterly different to mortal creatures that offence is often taken whether it was intended or not. Few mortals make such a mistake twice, and then only if the individual in question is either very lucky or very swift. Kurnoth Hunters One of the few deities worshipped by the Sylvaneth alongside Alarielle, Kurnoth represents nature’s wildness and hunger. The Kurnoth Hunters are living embodiments of his wrath. Nearly twice the size of a Dryad, masters of sword, bow and scythe, they are strong enough to tear a Chaos warrior in two and tough enough to shrug off the hardest blows. Agile, graceful and stoic, they display little of the whimsy of some of their kin - they display absolute purpose, calm as ancient oaks, deeply focused on their battles. Branchwych Druidic practitioners of sacred life magic, protectors of the clans’ soulpod glades, Branchwyches are greatly respected for their abilities as commanders and sorcerous advisors. The sombre responsibility of harvesting their fallen comrades after battle is theirs, lending them infamously short tempers and stunning ferocity when roused to anger. Branchwyches are accompanied by Bittergrubs, creatures of voracious appetite whose powerful jaws can cut through flesh and bone with ease. Durthu Durthu is an Elder of Athel Loren, a Treeman so ancient that even Ariel's millennia-long existence pales in comparison. It was he who first forged a union between Elves and forest, and who argued with his fellow Elders that the binding be made permanent. In those days, he was ever a friend to the Children of Isha, always willing to help them broaden their understanding of forest and Weave. Alas, those days are long gone. Centuries of destruction and carnage have taken their toll on Durthu's valiant spirit. He bore witness to the rapacity of blooded life, and of the wanton destruction it has heaped upon his homeland. He has seen untold acres of trees felled for kindling or from simple spite. He has watched, time and again, as the Elves have invited calamity on the forest through an inability to sever their connection to the outside world. Worst of all, he has seen his fellow Elders fall, one by one; some slain by their own foes but most destroyed by the enemies of the Elves.
Fantastic looking collection, loving both sides! Really like the tree people. The treeman is an amazing model; after putting together one I am considering getting some more at some point
Thanks guys. Here's Lord Mazdamundi in all his final glory: Lord Mazdamundi (riding Zlaaq) Lord Mazdamundi is the oldest and most powerful of the living Slann Mage-Priests. At the Dawn of Creation he was instructed by none other than Lord Kroak himself. With a matchless mind unfathomable to others, Mazdamundi is obstinate in his way and will not be deterred from that upon which he has decided. Although it took many interruptions to his thoughtful contemplations, at last the great Slann has fully bestirred himself, shaking off the lethargy that has afflicted so many of his kind. In the last few centuries he has become the most proactive of all the Mage-Priests. When riled, the Lord of the Solar-City will levitate his palanquin-throne atop the largest Stegadon that can be found. The current beast, a colossal specimen named Zlaaq, has served Mazdamundi for almost five hundred years. Once aloft on his mount, Mazdamundi will march out at the head of the armies of Hexoatl. With a flick of his wrist, Mazdamundi has smashed cities and doomed armies. His Great Purpose does not allow for mercy.
That's good because the Sylvaneth battalions all usually call for multiple treelords. Nothing exciting. I'm actually going to be working on Azyrite Ruins, Skink Starpriest and completing my 40 clanrats which I put on hold while working on Lord Mazdamundi.
Oxyotl Oxyotl, known as "He That Hunts Unseen" is a legendary and much-feared Chameleon Skink who was at one time, the last and greatest Chameleon Hunter within the jungle-continent of Lustria, an ancient being who was alive when Chaos first came to this very world. Since his return from the Realm of Chaos, Oxyotl has waged a war of revenge against the fell powers. How the Chameleon Skink detects the presence of the Dark Gods’ minions is unknown, yet time after time, the Daemons arrive to find Oxyotl already ensconced nearby, a hidden nuisance that always finds a way to thwart their immortal plans. The Golden Blowpipe of P'Toohee: With just the lightest exhalation, this golden instrument of death blasts forth a hail of murderous darts. Skink Starpriest Some within the ranks of the Seraphon are naturally gifted with intellects far superior to other mortals - the Skink Starpriests are definitive examples of this. Akin to wizards of other races, they excel in the ability to cast down the potent destructive energies of Azyr, burning up their enemies in scything beams of light summoned from a distant star. Azyrite Ruins Scattered across the Mortal Realms are the ruins of buildings that were created hundreds or even thousands of years before the coming of Chaos. Blighted Ruins Skaven Plagueclaw Catapults, Warp Lightning Cannons and Warplock Jezzails have smashed into these ruined structures, leaving them tainted with the energies of Warpstone.
Thanks all. Got it from Ebay, "Lazarus Games". It was already painted, so I had to strip it (used acetone). Also the little bolt he is holding in his hand, it was filed off, or something. That's why I decided to give him a shield, because he wasn't holding anything anymore.
