The looming excitement that might be TW warhammer II

"You are a pirate"

Harkin is exactly how I imagined him to look. Addition of the morn goal in the necrofex Colossus are both extremely Epic. In the sea shanty was a freaking amazing way to top it off

Looks awesome but I still would have preferred Southern Realms or Araby. Also Harkon is missing his hat.

I'm really looking forward to the 3rd game. I wonder what the system requirements will be. I'm not buying a PC until that comes out.

Here are the minimum system requirements for Total Warhammer 1 and 2

Total Warhammer 1:

  • CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo 3.0Ghz/ AMD Athlon II X4 640 3.0GHz
  • CPU SPEED: Info
  • RAM: 3 GB
  • OS: Windows Vista 32 bit Service Pack 1
  • VIDEO CARD: (DirectX 11) AMD Radeon HD 5770 1024MB / NVIDIA GTS 450 1024 MB / Intel HD4000 @720p
  • FREE DISK SPACE: 35 GB

Total Warhammer 2:

  • CPU: Intel® Core™ 2 Duo 3.0Ghz
  • CPU SPEED: Info
  • RAM: 5 GB
  • OS: Windows 7 64Bit
  • VIDEO CARD: NVIDIA GTX 460 1GB | AMD Radeon HD 5770 1GB | Intel HD4000 @720p
  • FREE DISK SPACE: 60 GB
I doubt that the third game will require that much more power to run.
The amount of GB needed is a little misleading since you only need the second game to be installed to play the content of both, also the requirements doesn't account for DLC.

It's always the graphics card that is the problem. My current laptop was okay in terms of CPU, RAM, OS and Disk Space.

Plus when I get the game I hope to be able to play it on a high (not necessarily the highest) graphical setting... so once again it will be down to the graphics card. The longer I hold off, the cheaper/better those cards will be. I've been very tempted though, especially since the drop of the Tomb Kings DLC. The TK look absolutely stunning and a lot of fun to play.

meh, playing TW on high settings tends to be a disaster. You get far too many individual soldiers far too quickly which tasks your computer too much. Playing it a setting or two below it is usually fine, especially since you're usually not zoomed in al the way anyway.

So on a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being the lowest possible setting and 10 being the highest possible setting, what setting would you recommend?

depends a bit on unit size, but for TW generally anywhere from 5-6 onwards looks decent as long as you don't want to look at the individual hairs in someones mustache or something like that. And from about 7 or 8 it no longer really adds anything anyway. You're mostly hovering over the battlefield at a relative distance so the fact that you can now see the an extra whisker on your skaven slaves is kind of irrelevant anyways.

Also, lower visual settings tend to have the advantage of not throwing a million trees with a bazzilion leaves on the battlefield which makes things a whole lot easier to see in certain cases... especially TW warhammer II suffers from too many trees having lustria as a playable area in it and all that...
