I definitely _want_ to come back and continue the thread, that's for sure. I had fallen away since it got increasingly frustrating to have so many open questions and no FAQ. Then the 9th edition rumors hit and I lost all remaining interest in painting and playing Lizardmen (and most of Warhammer for that matter) until I know that what I buy and paint will be attractive for use in a few months. Thanks for all the interest and support in the thread. Maybe it'll rise back up like a Quango soon...
Hey @Sleboda! I was amazed when I saw a friend wearing a Sleboda T-shirt last week in Oz. Pittsburgh Steelers, Huh? I can't believe they stole your avatar.
I've just joined this particular bat rep bandwagon late, but I must say Sleboda you have given me plenty to think about. I don't get to play as much as I'd like and either by mismanaging magic phases (or getting screwed over by the magic dice) I find a lot of my games are influenced by me hoping for average dice in the magic phase and getting 2 or 3. As I first started reading the thread I thought you were deliberately underplaying the value of magic in some games whilst overemphasizing them in negative ways. I have since changed my mind about this and totally come round to your way of thinking that the magic phase is a lottery (my main opponent regularly plays against me with daemons and the ensuing comedy rollercoaster that is the Reign of Chaos table). With this in mind I will try out an experiment of my own (with my three main armies, Lizardmen, Skaven & Wood Elves) and see if I can just minimise my blowing up of 300+ point models without my enemy getting anywhere near them. Thanks for that, and btw I very much like your writing style. Apologies to anyone thinking this reply was another Sleboda post.
it might just be me... but in the last battle you twice cast your wildform on a 9 on your krox... it seems to me that you forgot the lore attribute that practically says that you get +1 to cast on anything that is not infantry... a nice thing to remember when playing monster heavy
It doesn't add +1 to your cast but instead lowers the casting value by 1, but you are correct in that his roll of a 9 would then be successful, might have made a difference with that shooting. Also with a Solardon and Engine of the Gods I think that lvl 2 heavens skink is kind of not pulling his points worth, you are going to have 3 spells you want to get out with a possible 4th depending on spell gen. At lvl 2 and with bound spells that is going to use up 5-8 dice alone. I suggest you swap the lvl 2 heavens priest with additional saurus and go for 2 units of 24, or one big unit and a smaller flank support unit, against DE shooting they will easily survive and have a much better chance to make a difference mid to late game.
