Salamander Temple/Burial Mound
Salamanders often bury their kings, shamans, chiefs or other notable citizens in "small" pyramids like this one. The body is either buried in the swampy soil and the structure is built atop of it, or is placed in a special chamber inside the pyramid. However these buildings are not there to stay in solitude forever. They are often used by shamans and priests for rituals, public speeches and in time of war as a vantage point.

Salamanders as natural swimmers do not usually build bridges. This one, however, is very useful for transporting cargo or moving heavy troops. Legend says that this bridge was initially built by some foolhardy humans (hence the untypical for Salamanders arch architecture) who decided to conquer Dagger Island. Inhabitants of this swampy island are generally welcoming or neutral towards aliens. However any sign of aggression is not taken lightly. Nobody really knows what happened to these "colonists", the bridge and some scattered ruins is all that is left of them.

Carnivorous Plants.
These interesting creatures have been populating Dagger Island since before it was colonized by Salamanders. usually they dwell in deep jusngle or on the contrary, in swampy areas where they stay still, imitating surrounding "normal" wildlife. Once they sense prey they will try to swallow it whole in one lightning strike move. If it fails, it can even pursue its prey on short distances thanks to its tentacle-like roots.

Ghekkotahs upon encountering them try not to kill these swamp predators, but rather put them to sleep by shooing darts at a particular spot at the top of the "flower". In other times these plants are ideal against potential invaders.

I, however, am not entirely sure how to use them in the game, save for decorations. KoW doesn't have anything like "dangerous terrain"(?) in WHFB, so I might just go for putting them in a forest terrain (see above) and writing some house rules, I guess.....

That's fantastic! I love your terrain, that bridge and burial mound are truly amazing, as are the trees!

Coincidentally I have been assigned the burial mound for the fun terrain competition, and I will use yours as inspiration.

Without delays, allow me to introduce my next bunch of miniatures and terrain pieces:

Dagger Island Temple
It may not be the biggest, or the most beautiful temple in Salamander lands, but for islanders it is a center of their life. The temple is not only a place for worship, but also a hospital and a school. They say this temple was built by some people who lived way before the Salamanders came to this island. No record can prove that, but no record is there that salamanders actually built it. At first glance it may seem that the temple is old and crumbling. In reality swampy soil of the island and time have indeed had effect on the building, but ghekkotah priests carefully maintain the temple and do all the minor repairs that may be necessary.

Clan Lord of Firedrake
When war comes to Dagger Island Lords of the land usually ride to battle atop the giant Firedrakes. These creatures are distant cousins of dragons and too can breath fire on short distances. Older and less agile Lords sometimes go on foot, but usually accompanied by ceremonial temple guard troops.

Shamans that need to get to some place as quickly as possible use these flying platforms to transport them to any place on the island. However only a handful of shamans know the secret of operating these wonderful ancient devices.

The temple looks great! Did you use mostly carved foam to make it? I am curious how solid it is.

Thank you! I am most pleased that you liked it. I've spent many hours in total to make it. )

Well, the technique is really simple. I just took several foam boards, cut each of those that the next is progressively smaller than the previous one and built that very simple structure at the top. So, I can say it is rather sturdy and somewhat heavy even.

That's me holding it upside down, causing fear and panic fo those who are inside:

But most of the time spent was spent on carving stones and decorations!

Beautifully painted! I love the green on the bastiladon, and the kroxigors. I totally understand you opinions for them, I don't really like the heads, but I like your paint scheme

I like Kroxigor. I just still have nightmares about assembling them because the damn parts wouldn't fit...

You did a great job with the K-rocks. I really don't like the looks of these sculpts either, especially the Rhino-horn one, but your paint job makes up for a lot of the failure in the miniature. Outside of woogity, I really haven't seen a good sculpt for Kroxigor. I'm surprised that they haven't seen more iterations.

Thank you very much. Originally | wanted some unusual and unique (as far as possible, of course) colour scheme for the lizzies, but after experimenting a bit (I even fell as low as tried AoS paint scheme) but returned to the "classical" approach.

Indeed. Everything is uncomfortable about them. A very rare case with GW miniatures, in my opinion. )

Reaper Lizardmen Tyrants look somewhat decent on the picture. But since I do not own any, it's hard to tell, really.
