8th Ed. throuble with pursuit

I have an question.
this is what happend:

After combat result my unit won the combat and he lost his LD test, so he ran.
I pursue
my dice roll is higher then his, so i would caugth his unit and it would be destroyed.

this is pretty much standard

But:
behind his unit that broke there was an other unit of his army and his unit fled trough this one, causing panic but he made his LD so they didn`t panic or run away.

what happens to his fleeing unit?
is it destroyd? because i rolled higher with my dice.
Or did it escape? because my unit hits his other unit that didn`t panic

If I remember correctly, the feeling unit is not actually moved if the pursuer rolls higher - you simply remove it from play there and then.

Therefore you don't have to worry what happens to it as it is destroyed and then you get to pursue into a new enemy

Correct, you catch the fleeing unit before you run into the other unit.
