Rikard, You have nothing to feel bad about. Your work is completely your own with an inspiration from GW (only, yours is WAY better). I would buy your models before I spent another penny on a GW model.
agree with Arli. It is a good thing to create a competition of quality. It SHOULD force GW to step up their products. Sadly they choose to ban alternate models instead...which...imo.. is the wrong path to take for a couple of reasons: 1. Its neglecting an opportunity to gain good-will in the community (which is something they desperately need.) 2. It only has an impact on players whos only option is to play at their stores and events. (which for example is 0% here in Denmark) 3. Its equal to saying "we will rather hurt our customers than strive to make our product indispensable through quality improvement. If I was hired at GW, I would work towards increasing competitiveness rather than neglecting the competition in total. Your work is priceless on all accounts Rikard, I think nothing else.
There IS competition. GW does nothing about companies that do their own casts. There are dozens of alt model companies. What exactly are you referring to? You seem to be railing against a concept that literally doesn't exist... I truly don't understand where this argument is coming from. The initial issue was against Chinese recasters that literally create cheaper replicas of GW products. When did it become about anything else?
Not sure what to respond putz.. I dont understand the point you are trying to put out. Is anyone stating otherwise? Yes they do, they refuse usage. what concept? When Rikard became unsure if I was calling him part of the problem, which I didn't. I then tried to elaborate why I actually thought the opposite was the case.
Ah gotcha. That makes sense! Thanks for the clarification. I also don't really think refusing usage at their own stores means much of anything. As a whole it's such a tiny part of the hobby I barely even Consider it. Also I think it's somewhat understandable... it's their own store afterall. And a lot of time the games being played are more or less advertisements. I wouldn't expect a privateer press store to let me play with warhammer models. Some GW stores are actual cool with it. Depends a lot on the employees at that store Either way, as I said, Thanks for the clarification. Didn't mean to call you out.
no worries mate I think I got the gist of your confusion. I agree with you in refusing usage not doing anything. Thats what makes it so ridiculous the ETC leagues doesnt give a damn about the ban either. Last year, during the championship one of the teams used a cuddle toy rat for hell pit abomination. One can hope that ONE DAY GW will realize that we are in it for the game, and that the miniatures are somewhat second priority.
I, unfortunately, think I am going to sell my collection. I only have a playgroup of 1 friend who still plays, I am going to be back in school (so no time), and looking at moving. If I can't sell them for a reasonable amount I would keep them in a box, but I just can't see me playing much anymore. And without new releases/support for the army, there just isn't enough variation in the lists to hold my interest forever.
You can just taste the lingering malice of Darnok, closer of threads. My advice: wait. You never know. If you are moving you might end up in a gamey neighborhood, or you could come across gaming opportunities in the future. also: a lot of armies are going up for sale over the next couple of months. You wont exactly have demand in your favor
I saw a gaming website which sold for 3000ish points of Lizardmen for the equivalent of 100£. You will NOT be getting your moneys worth by selling now. Of course, you can risk getting squatted, but have you seen what some of the axed games and miniatures can cost? I am just happy that my local group already enjoys making old-edition games, so I'm not overly worried. If they stick around, cool. If they don't, I can probably convince them to let me use a "homebrew" similar to how Chaos dwarves were at one point, or just play anything pre-9th edition with them. So I wont be losing much regardless of what happens.
Was actually thinking the same until I remember I have way too many points with Lizardmen. Though might be a good time to branch out with a few additional armies if you find any deals like that.
