That would be an interesting list!
    :)
Reminds me of one of the first debates you and I ever had on here. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Interestingly, I just happened to re-watch Titanic about a week ago.

Have you seen Oppenheimer out of interest? Thoughts? Better or worse than Titanic? ;)

I have not seen it yet. Titanic wouldn't be a good bench mark though, as we have vastly different opinions of it!

OK, in which case, have you seen Nolan's Dunkirk? Would that serve as a better benchmark?

I have, but to be honest, I don't remember much of it besides not really being into it.

Interesting... would that be down to it being a forgettable film in your eyes or just WWII films in general not being your thing?

    Both.

I'm not a huge WWII film fan, but even factoring that in, I just didn't like Dunkirk. So much so, that I can barely remember anything about it (other than not really liking it). And I'm a huge Christopher Nolan fan, but this one just didn't do it for me.

I presume down to him directing the Dark Knight trilogy? I looked his filmography up a while back and noticed they were the standout three of his works.

Those remain the gold standard of live action comic book movies in my mind. I'm also a massive fan of Inception and Interstellar.

I already know who would be my number one. But he isn't responding because he hasn't been on the forum in many months. Lost but never forgotten. I hope that no matter what has kept him away, that he is doing well.

    as promised... :)

    Game of thrones, season 8.

    you know the drill.

Star Wars Ep. VII: The Force Awakens
the official beginning of the disastrous fall of probably the most beloved franchise in all cinema history.

    The Matrix reloaded / revolution
one of the most iconic and influential FS movie did not deserved the rest of the trilogy

    Kung Fu Panda 3
Technically i wasn't expecting nothing special but it was disappointing to say the least. Po must find himself and understand what his feelings toward his "father" Ping. AGAIN? the second movie accomplished nothing? Add to this the least interesting villain of the series and you'll have a useless product

Dr. Strange and the multiverse of madness.
Strange is one of my fav. characters in the MCU. This movie was just awful.

    The Hobbit
such a step back from the masterpiece that was LOTR

    Conan the Barbarian (2011)
Starring Momoa, i had some expectations for this one. Nope.

    The Thin Red Line
Saw it in theatre, it bored the hell out of me. The movie is truly good, but at times I was expecting something very different from a philosophical depiction of war

    Lord of the Rings (1978)
Saw it when i was around 14 or 15, after the reading of the book. I was really excited and the disappointment was great (the story left unfinished didn't helped either)

    Alien (the franchise after Aliens)
Alien and Aliens are masterpieces. The rest of the film franchise was a slow, painful agony, to the point i stopped caring.

*Quadrilogy :p And the fourth is by far the worst of the bunch.

That was a very disappointing one,

That is an interesting point... I do agree that Po's personality seemed to have had a bit of a reset after the ending of the awesome second film... though in the third one he does also have to come to terms with meeting his real father alongside getting used to being Mr. Ping's adopted son - by contrast at the end of the second film, he perceived that his real father was among the dead slain by Lord Shen and his wolves, and decided to just carry on with being Mr. Ping's son regardless of his true ancestry, and it's not until the third one that he finds his father is alive and well.

If you dislike Kai, I think you'll like The Chameleon from Kung Fu Panda 4 even less :D. I haven't seen that one yet but there's been a lot of fan disappointment specifically as to how bland (and even conflicting with existing canon) a backstory she was given compared to the previous 3 villains. At least General Kai had an arc of rising to his peak, followed by temptation, fall and perceived betrayal by his old friend.

I will agree that Kung Fu Panda 3 was a big step back from particularly 2 in quality, but for me it was still funny enough to not make my Disappointment list, largely because it leant on a lot of the first film's comedy. By contrast Night at the Museum 3, for example, didn't even benefit from that feather in the cap.

Indeed, i am not interested in KFP4 also because The Chameleon seems really a bland villain. Kai (strictly speaking), is not bad per se... it's just that doesn't hold a candle to TaiLung and (especially) Shen.

I should consider myself lucky i never watched Night at the museum 3 :p

Sorry mate, but I've given my reasons in my post - the original '81 version really doesn't sit well with me to be honest. I can understand if it was of particular nostalgia to you, though as mentioned previously there are a great many other Harryhausen films I infinitely prefer.

@Imrahil doesn't seem to have been around since last Thursday, so perhaps we'll give him until this Thursday to contribute, and then move on - he can always catch up later as I did once.

I saw the original in theatre, back in '81.
i LOVED it, it was epic and magic.
I'm sure that, despite Harryhausen, i wouldn't enjoy it as much today... so i gladly keep it in my memory associated to those old feelings of a 12 YO boy enamoured with fantasy. :p
