8th Ed. troglodon

I was going to convert the Carnosaur to be a Trog with a Saurus rider, but the Carno kit really does look pretty damn good out of the pics.

I never understood the idea of weak units becoming viable in big games. The trog is actually even worse in big games imo because of its short ranged abilities. I'd much rather use the extra points for even more of a unit that's actually good.

For those with the box, is it possible to make a troglodon riding scarvet? :pompus: If so, that's my answer(the carnausaur head looks a little goofy to me)

You could as long as you give it the carnie back spikes and not the trog's sail (the Saurus saddle won't fit with the sail) and as long as you don't mind the rider looking in a completely different direction to his mount (the trog head bends to the right while the carnie head bends left). I've got to say I like the carnosaur head much, much better having out the kit together than I did from the pictures in WD or even the 360 on the net.

It would actually be quite easy to magnetise the heads so they were interchangeable and the Saurus saddle is quite stable without gluing it on, I've left mine removable so I can use the carnie for SoM games.
Do you think the scarvet can stan on his back without the seat(oracle style) so i can keep the sail?
EDIT:I don't really think it matters where it's looking, it's supposed to be blind anyway

The model is simply too cool not to use.

I feel like this book is way more about setting up the right synergies in the right places at the right times and the Trog definitely has a role in that. he will blow through any fast cav units he sees and is fast enough to run up a flank and annihilate any weapon crews. Supporting charges of saurus or TG, and when the time is right, roaring so that the saurus and TG can shred their enemies. The spell channeling has potential (especially on the rare occasion we use death magic anymore) and since we have no more means by which to generate extra power dice reliably, having an extra channel is welcome.

Did I mention how amazing the model is btw?

I see myself swapping a high magic spell for death, even if I only get the sig spell. It is short range but it is direct damage. I have a skink priest with the cloak of feathers who can fly where I need him and be the vassal for a couple snipes.
