Trying to get started with my army but i have last editions codex and one the battalion box of lizardmen :/ anyone have any tips ive watched alot of batreps on youtube so i know bout most of the newer stuff too :pigeon:

Welcome to the forums. If we can help in any way, let us know.

Now, where to start. The battalion box is a great start. You should be able build a good sized force with that. I would recommend purchasing more skinks (you can never have too many, I have about 170). Some of those can be converted to chameleons to save you some cash. A slann is always a good purchase as well. For your saurus scar-vets and old bloods, I would recommend converting those as well, but the plastic old-blood is a really nice model.

Hope this helps.

Honestly it does cuz i want kind of a shooty army with a firm backbone to boot

Hi, I would recommend another battalion box. You'll get more skinks (as Arli said, can't have too many), bump your Saurus up to enough for your first big block, and give you 20 TG which is all you need depending on the Lore you choose for the Slann.

For a more shooting army, you will need those skinks. They have average shooting ability, but the jungle poison rule makes them very formidable. You have two choices here, skirmishers or cohorts. The skirmishers can march and shoot, so they have more maneuverability. You can take blowpipes or javelins depending on your play style. I almost always use the javelins as I tend to get too close and end up charged by something. I like having the shield for the 6+ parry save (which doesn't help that much, but it makes me feel a little better).

Using the skirmishers in this way gives them a much longer range than the cohorts because they can march then shoot (no penalty for moving with the javelin either=better chance of hitting).

Another thing you should make sure to try out is the Engine of the Gods. It is a great thing.

I want to use an engine but i have last editions codex so i cannot use him just yet

The current version IS last edition's...

Or do you mean the 6th Edition/previous army book?
