Volcanic Lizardmen Painting Blog (neveroddoreven update)

Re: Volcanic Lizardmen Painting blog (Slann update 9/10)

"I went back to the bright blue [...] because of the Slann's magical awesomeness"

That is more than enough reason! Seriously though this is great! The brightness pf the blue can also distract the enemy in the battlefield while the rest of your troops RoflStomp them.

Really awesome figures yo!

Re: Volcanic Lizardmen Painting blog (Slann update 9/10)

Wow that Slann is fantastic! And his palanquin is equally just as great! Awesome work!

Re: Volcanic Lizardmen Painting blog (Slann update 9/10)

Very nice, I especially like the blue.

Re: Volcanic Lizardmen Painting blog (Slann update 9/10)

Here are a few pics of my Bastiladon. It is still a WIP, but just little details remain on the base and Engine. Like a lot of people, I really like the look of the bright belly and dark carapace for the Basti. I, personally, am not a fan of the tiara GW made for the Solar Engine version, so I went with the more aggressive "giant horn" and carapace for my Basti. Yeah, he's gonna be zapping chaff, but he'll also be getting in there with some flank charges.

The same shading/highlighting for the orange from the Slann was used here on the Basti's underbelly.

Like most people, I wanted to do some freehand design on the carapace. Rather than going for spots or some kind of pattern, I wanted marks the evoked lightning. Zappy zappy, ya know?

Hope you guys enjoy!

Re: Volcanic Lizardmen Painting blog (Bastiladon update 10/3

God that Bastiladon looks sweet. The pattern really turned out great!

What's your next project then?

Re: Volcanic Lizardmen Painting blog (Bastiladon update 10/3

The freehand painting is awesome! Well done! Keep going!

Re: Volcanic Lizardmen Painting blog (Bastiladon update 10/3

Thanks guys! Next project...I've got a 24/3 Skrox unit, five CoC, and a new Carnosaur all assembled. One is clearly the most fun to tackle, but the other two would probably be more immediately useful. Not sure yet lol

Re: Volcanic Lizardmen Painting blog (Bastiladon update 10/3

Wow that Bastiladon is awesome. Your freehand work definitely evokes the feeling of lightning. Can't wait for the next models!

Re: Volcanic Lizardmen Painting blog (Bastiladon update 10/3

Great Bastiladon you got there! I love the skin colour and the carapace is cool too. I dig the lighting pattern. The solar engine thingie itself is beautiful, too. I would really much like to see what you come up with for Kroxygors...

Re: Volcanic Lizardmen Painting blog (Bastiladon update 10/3

So, today being my birthday, I wanted to share with everyone the finished project that I'm making my gift to myself: a Carnosaur. Used the same basing style as the Slann. Couldn't resist doing a flip-flop of the red/black color scheme of the Saurus. The next Carnosaur will be a more unique color combination.

Re: Volcanic Lizardmen Painting blog (Carnosaur update 10/19

I would say that is a perfect carnasaur silver bolt, bar a few details which are bugging me....

Your skin tones are amazing, the attention to the organic look is great, can't fault the lizards, i just feel your thro e and weapon are.....flat and textureless. Maybe a wash and highlight to them will bring this model from pretty damn cool up to pretty damn epic.

I can see the improvements in your style and skill from post one and the effort you have put in so i can't fault you at all!

Btw, being a transformers fan, and a lover of silver bolt, have you played half moon studios war for cybertron and fall of cybertron?

Re: Volcanic Lizardmen Painting blog (Carnosaur update 10/19

Yeah, I agree about the throne and weapon. I'm actually planning on using a little sponge to try to add some stone texture on it. And yeah, the weapon needs a little more love. My wife has tons of birthday plans for me this weekend, so I was primarily trying to get to a point where I could call it finished, ya know?

No, I haven't played those two games, though I REALLY want to. They have been on my long list of video game catch-up.

Re: Volcanic Lizardmen Painting blog (Carnosaur update 10/19

Perhaps an ink was and a highlight would give the effect you want? Enjoy your weekend of bday activities :)

Btw the first game looks great and plot is awesome but a tad repetitive, second game absolutely rocks and is in my top ten games :)

Re: Volcanic Lizardmen Painting blog (Carnosaur update 10/19

Dear Lord Mazdamundi, that looks gorgeous! Much praise to Axolotyl for noticing the weapon and the throne, I was just mesmerized by the blazing oranges and the black of the Carno. But I agree with him, hopefully you'll add some details on them. Still, absolutely stunning work. Oh, and congrats on your birthday!

Re: Volcanic Lizardmen Painting blog (Carnosaur update 10/19

Very nice Slann! It is the reverse of mine, but yours is painted much better. :)

Re: Volcanic Lizardmen Painting blog (Carnosaur update 10/19

Thanks for the comments guys! Now to get back to that Skrox unit...

Re: Volcanic Lizardmen Painting blog (Carnosaur update 10/19

Excellent job on the carnosaur and rider! Your work never ceases to amaze!

Re: Volcanic Lizardmen Painting blog (Carnosaur update 10/19

It's been almost a whole month since my last update. Painting has slowed down since I've been playing more in the escalation league and work has been insane. So, here are my first 3 Kroxigors. I wanted to visually represent the spawnkin rule somehow, so I decided to paint the Kroxigors' underbellies yellow to match the skinks' crest. Like the Saurus, they have a darker red skin.

and finally with some Skinks (still need to finish the Skink touchups/details)

Next up, some CoC!

Re: Volcanic Lizardmen Painting blog (Kroxigor update 11/17)

Awesome! Rockzigors!

Re: Volcanic Lizardmen Painting blog (Kroxigor update 11/17)

Geez, it's been a while since I have posted anything. Here is the command from my first 5 CoC. I've also been using the Champion as a Cowboy in some games. Sorry about the poor quality pictures.
