8th Ed. Vs skaven

Hi I had my first battle against skaven last night, this is a question about saving throws for both armies! Lizardmen Saurus have scaley skin 5+ and shields does this mean they have 4+ save? Also skinks have no armour and sometimes no shield, does this mean no saving throw? Same Witt skaven rat ogres no armour or shield.. Does this mean no saving throw??

You are right on all accounts as scaly skin and other armour is cumulative. The only skinks with an armour save are the javelin & shield variants which gives them a 6+ AS.

And a 6+ parry save if fighting a unit in front of them too!

Are you a previous 40k player? That is one of the things that most surprises 40k players, along with a movement stat. As a rule, models don't have a saving throw to start with unlike in 40k. A lot will have special rules wfor odd types of armour, a lot will come with armour, but in general.. No save or armour mentioned, no roll.
