Got two more bases of ashigaru completed. Kobayakawa Clan ashigaru, part of the clan that turned traitor on the field and swung the tide of the battle in favor of Tokugawa. Unit champion: Drummers: The main forces (Western/Eastern armies) are mostly Blue/Red, so I want to have the traitors emphasized with a little bit of yellow. Spoiler: more pics
It has been a minute. Since I have been gone I got some packages in the mail to share! Steel Fist Miniatures order just arrived with some nice, shiny new Daimyo to add to my slowly growing Sekigahara force: Ishida Mitsunari: The battlefield commander of the Western Army against the might of the Tokugawa, Ishida was the architect and diplomat who brought together the disparate daimyo to fight against the Eastern Army, though he was equally responsible for its demise... Spoiler: Size Comparison- Steel Fist/Perry Both Steel Fist and Perry samurai lines are 28mm, though Steel Fist is a tiny bit larger. I may cut off the metal disk that Ishida is resting on to put him on his new base. Shimazu Yoshihiro: Another of the battlefield commanders of the Western Army, Shimazu Yoshihiro is shown here deep in contemplation as he surveys the battlefield. This would have been shortly before when hope was lost and he made his decision to abandon the rest of the Western Army to its fate, and fought a rearguard action to cut through the Eastern Army forces and fought his clan's way to freedom. This decision saved the brunt of his clan's forces at the price of sacrificing his son's life on the battlefield. Honda Tadakatsu: My personal favorite of the bunch, the Honda model is huge and is going to look great with his long spear (which I think was named the Dragonfly Cutter but I will have to check). Spoiler: Size Comparison: Steel Fist/Perry More size comparison photos, again Steel Fist is a tad bigger than Perry. Spoiler: Size Comparison- Steel Fist/Warlord Games Also a few more comparison photos with Warlord Games plastic samurai horsemen. The Warlord's Games horses are waaay smaller, but that's fine as the Steel Fist minis are all going to be the daimyo. I am looking forward to painting these guys, and experimenting with the banners! Also got some Perry Miniatures samurai (Tokugawa and his retainers, plus some of Ii Naomasa's Red Devils). They are currently drying off after their wash, pictures of my other acquisitions to follow.
Wooohoooo! *rapping* Guess who's back back again @Warden's back tell a friend I lately watched Kagemusha so I am in a Samurai mood myself. Nice to see more of yours!
That was a fast reply! It has been some time, I got a lot of projects to start up again (and forum posts to read through) in my absence! I have only seen clips of that movie... travesty! I need to watch it sometime.
Perry Miniatures samurai are all cleaned up too! Lord Tokugawa Ieyasu, most powerful daimyo at the time of Sekigahara and the ultimate winner/future shogun, here in European-style armor and flanked by his two most trusted retainers (Honda Tadakatsu and Kuroda Nagamasa). Rest of his groupees: Spoiler: Size Comparison- Steel Fist/Perry/Warlord Tokugawa (from Perry) and Shimazu (from Steel Fist) Both about the same size, I think Shimazu is a tiny bit bigger but that may just be the base. Moar comparisons, though mostly unpainted/unassembled. Both Warlord Games (plastic) and Steel Fist are a bit taller at the shoulder, steel fist almost by a head (without the head! ). Perry is definitely shorter. I will take more pics when I get the steel fist assembled up. Here is Honda again, both the standing version from Perry and the riding version from Steel Fist. Ii Naomasa's Red Devils from Perry Miniatures:
I do like to scan through your works (kills a lot of time) Always enjoy what I see (far too much to mention) but love it all!
Small update, got everything on their magnetic metal base/basing materials added. Ishida Shimazu Honda Tokugawa And a brand new size comparison shot, this time with heads! I see now as I am loading the picture the whole thing is at an angle But as you can see, the size difference is nowhere NEAR as bad as I thought it was! Steel Fist is on point for a good height comparison with the rest, basically the same height as the Warlord Games plastics. Perry is still the shortest, but not by too much as to make a difference. Parting epic photo of Honda Tadakatsu
Exactly! Also had fun with these brass banners to use as the giant sashimonos. Never played with any of these before; I would have thought it would have been much harder to use but now I am a fan!
Great to see a resurgence in your history project! Still haven't got round to working on my Warhammer minis yet so haven't had chance to start mine...
Back to some ashigaru from the Kobayakawa clan. Two bases of arquebusiers complete (with two ammo flunkies) and a base of archers. More archers in the works!
Next batch of ashigaru and some samurai cav all assembled and ready for priming. Also got some new purchases for cheap! Kill Team rulebook, and some Maelstrom's Edge!
So when I copied this into google the first entry was "my cat likes to sleep near the radiator." I think I goofed somewhere
It should mean "I like this" but I copied it from some old text of mine, back when I tried to learn Japanese, so it might in fact be wrong....
Wow thanks!! When I type that in the translator now, the same Japanese characters appear. Not sure how this got messed up the first time Looks like the computers have a few more kinks to work out before they take over the world
